Yes, but it should've been made based on the comment you were replying to which was, "I want to try the HD600" which you magically transformed into "What beats balanced HD600?". We know you're super-duper-ooper excited about balancing stuff but lets try to keep things in perspective. kthx? Awesome wink.gif btw, if you're still selling the J$ pads, pm me because it's still in your ad! For realz.

What I really need is a comfotable closed pair that sound as excellent as the DT880's, you know for times that the TV or the wife is too loud. :D

This is all to true for me. i bought dt770's before my dt880's for wife aggro "what was that i got my headphones on"

I apologize for defending HD600 in a DT880 thread.

For punishment I would like Jessica Alba to pull my pants down, turn me over her knee and spank me! tongue.gif

... I accept your punishment. Let me make some calls!

I guess I was the one who brought up the HD600. Maybe I need some kind of punishment. I'm kind of afraid of what you lot would come up with for me, though. :D

DT880 vs HD600 is a never-ending battle. I was lucky enough to try both and i prefer the DT880's by a slight margin. Either way, both are way better than the K701 :D

Anyway, i had a question to ask. To DT880 and DT990 owners:

Do you think it is worth it owning both? And how much more treble does the 990 have than the 880?

There is a really great deal  on the 990 Pro's for around $140-160 on Amazon. A fellow headfier who owns both tells me that he prefers the 990's. I don't know if the 990's would be a step-up in terms of clarity or detail, I am only interested in them because they have some more thump in the low end and a wider soundstage.

I liked the dt 880 and 990 seperatly... I felt to much the DT 990 had to much bass,

the 880 was my prefrance

there's no such thing as too much bass :L3000:

but really though, how much bass are we talking? i dont mind some extra bass in my songs (not that the 880 lacks any)

just to much it took away from the mids to much imo. I loved it for Edm and classical but for rock the mids where too far back for my tastes

I agree with shenay. The enhanced bass and treble takes away from the mids. I owned both the 990/600 prem and the 880/600 prem at one point and didn't notice a huge difference except for the sharper highs, large bass and recessed mids in comparison. Didn't notice a larger soundstage or clarity.

Excellent!
I had the HFI-780's first and they are nice and comfy with the HM5 pads, but not as good as the beyer's for comfort... I'll have to look into the DT770's as well as the SoundMagic's. Comfort and isolation play a large part when it comes to "wife aggro". biggrin.gif

actually, the Dt 990 IS wider. There is more sound stage BUT again the mids aren't... as nice as the dt 880

Guess I'm sticking to my DT880's then..
