Thanks folks. I'll be using my Valhalla, which Schiit says really "likes" high impedance cans. in fact they single out this as a great match.

As to Pro vs Premium, I'll lean towards less clamping force if that's the main difference.

Also, the Premiums come with a straight cable and Pros with a heavy, annoying coiled cable. Other than that they're the same.

Thanks, I appreciate that comment, and would not appreciate a coiled cable!

I actually like the coiled cable on my Pros. Its a very high quality cable that stretches easily but doesn't lose its shape over time like others can and the clamping force is enough that the cable doesn't pull on the left cup noticeably. I have no regrets about the coiled cable at all. My DT770 Premium 600 ohm is too lose after a year or so of use, I prefer the higher clamping force. For the price I think the Pro is a no-brainer but to each his own.

I ordered the 250ohm Dt880 Premium. Should be here next a week or too. I wanted a straight cable. Figured if the straight cable is too long, then I can braid it to make it shorter.

I went with the 250ohm to run it with my iMod and Fiio E17.

Congrats, you'll love it! And yeah I think the 250 ohm is the best choice for the iMod and E17 while still being high impedance enough to match nicely with more powerful amps you may get down the road.

Long cables aren't an issue for me at all for home/desktop use. I use a Sennheiser HH10 clamp-on headphone holder ($15) and I thread the cable through it so I'm not running it over with my chair. ;)

Ditto on this. I bought a used Premium model and felt like it was about to fall off my head all the time. The pressure of the Pro is just right.

Oh, and thanks, devhen, for writing 'his own' rather than 'their own'. You get 3 literacy points for that, which you can redeem at the Head-Fi shop.

Haha! Thanks for that. I'm glad you like the Pros to. Aw bugger, there went my 3 points... ;p

On the subject of cables, I've found the Beyers to have the thickest and most sturdy looking and feeling cable of all the headphones I've tried. It would be even better if it was detachable but at least its a really high quality cable.

So they say 'bugger' in Utah as well? Interesting.
