Wolfetan, they look freakin' awesome!! Can't wait to hear more impressions as you get used to the sound.

Even though I like them a lot, I still prefer the DT990's. Just more fun to listen to.

I guess we all have different tastes. Most of the guys here, including me, prefer a neutral sound that is not emphasized on a particular part of the spectrum, and the 880's do that extremely well. The 990's, on the other hand, may have the edge in soundstage and imaging, but also have a that fun V shaped sound signature that everyone seems to enjoy.

In the end, we're all Beyer fanboys and we can't deny that biggrin.gif

Maybe. I'm doing it mainly out of curiosity and that I got a good deal on them. If I don't like them, I'll return or sell them. I'm still really happy with the dt880s, just.. you know. grass is always greener... biggrin.gif If 880s win out, I quit. lol mid-fi end game setup.

I've yet to try any of the Tesla-based stuff. Opinions seem to be mixed (though generally at least somewhat positive). I've even read from a few people who've tried some of it that they prefer the older Premium DTxx0 series stuff. I'll wait until I have an opportunity to hear somebody else's rig before I ever consider pulling the trigger on any of the new Beyer stuff.

Wow, very nice and classy. I'm going to be picking up my DT 880's in the store tomorrow. What do I need to do to get a wood finish like that? :o

The T90 is polarizing indeed. Can't wait to hear your impressions relative to the 880s.

That would be very interesting indeed. I tried to make it through the T90 thread looking for exactly that sort of comparison, but the only thing I came across in the first few dozen pages or so was nikongod's comparison of the T90 to his memory of the DT880 which, while I certainly trust his experience, was just one opinion. Most people seemed to want to compare them to the DT770 or DT990, neither of which I have experience with.

Judging by the measurements and Beyer's description of the sound characteristics, the T90 should actually be more similar to the DT880 than any of the other DTxx0 Beyers.

Reviews are always just one guys opinion.
Always best to try it yourself and form your own opinion.

One man's "too bright" may be a treble head's dream, for example! biggrin.gif
