The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread - Page 193

I just pulled out my DT880-600's when I got my new DAC (Audiolab M-DAC).

It has some filters that aid in what I've found to be the 880's primary issue (for my ears...), being over-bright.

The filter that incorporates the greatest roll-off of the highs provides the greatest relief for me, and makes the 880's much more enjoyable.

My previous combination had poor synergy (w/ the Benchmark DAC1-PRE).

I don't own an M-DAC, but I auditioned one using my DT880/600 Ohm from the M-DAC's headphone jack..

I thought the combination sounded amazing!  biggrin.gif

I've never heard my DT880s sound better!

I definitely see an M-DAC in my future............i.e. when I get the $$$ together.

Ok, sometimes you just have to stop reading and respond:  I LOOOOOVE MY DTs!  (DT880 600). I actually skipped a couple of meals to purchase them. Was worth it....

Now that's dedication right there! biggrin.gif I've been neglecting mine after I put my HD650s up for sale and realized I loved them too much to sell them. I've been listening to them ever since. I forgot how much I enjoyed their warm, enveloping sound. They actually have a lot more detail than I remember. It's just not as obvious as it is with the DT880s.

If you could afford some 880's just by skipping a couple meals you eat REAL good!!

It's not that unfathomable. I had a lovely dry aged steak the other day that almost cost as much as my used DT880 600Ω.

Damn. I love a good meal, but I can't fathom spending that much on a piece of meat that will come out me backside in a few hours.

Hmm, that's a lovely thought. frown.gif

Perhaps, but the headphones are sounding like a better and better purchase

Getting custom cups from MCA, here they are so far. He said they'll be done over the weekend.
