Can 600 Ohm cans be driven to an optimal level by a battery-powered, few circuits headphone amp? I'm not sure.

Many threads in Head-Fi warn users to use a powerful amp for these headphones.

Sports cars work better with a V8 engine than a 3-in-line engine, in my humble opinion.

But exceptions do exist and miracles can happen. wink.gif

No.
That's not possible.
The O2 is the world's greatest headphone amp.
Ever.
The quietest, the loudest, the most powerful, the best sounding, the best measuring, etc.
It renders all other headphone amps obsolete.

I get the joke, but I just wanted to retort with that.

Aww... seriously, though, I think it just got a pretty fierce competitor.

You'll get to hear it all at the meet anyway. I'm bringing the E12 along, and I'm sure we'll be able to grab an O2 and a DT880 lying around randomly...

I'm going to have to steal someone's DT880 and test it on a high-end setup. I can't believe I won't have mine. I'll see how the E12 stacks up, we'll meet up and do a comparisonbiggrin.gifbeerchug.gif

Well... in my experience, alcohol causes you to miss things that are blatantly obvious... so I'm hesitant to use that as an explanation. But it sure does make it more impressive biggrin.gif

I do believe the ODAC/O2 combo is very good, but when it comes to synergy, I prefer the original Dacport to brought up the mids and the bass.

I was under the impression that the DACport (and DACmini) were both transparent? Are you saying the DACport actually distorts audio by emphasizing mids and bass?

The Dacport have a different soudsign than the Dacmini, the Dacport is abit warm on the mids and the bass while the Dacmini is more balance, and the Dacmini is more transparent than the Dacport due to a better DAC section on the Dacmini
