I just got a pair of these, and am getting headaches from the clamping pressure... My head is pretty sensitive to pressure.  Is it advisable to try to lessen the bend of the headband?  I love the sound of these, but I can't enjoy it for long periods of time at work.

Did you get Pro or Premium? I'd bend the headband... it's metal. Just be gentle!

Aldyrin, it sounds like you got the Pro model which has a tighter clamping force. If your head is sensitive to pressure you really should have gotten the Premium model which doesn't have much clamping force at all. That said, yokken is right, you can stretch out the headband simply by hand or by stretching the headphones over a stack of books and leaving it over night. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'll give the stack-of-books thing a try.  I got these.  Not sure if they are the premium or pro version, but they do sound great.  The clamping would be fine for most people probably.  I can't really wear hats either for the same reason.  I think I just have a weird head.

Oh, those are the ones known to have no clamping force, really.

Well, I can't wait guys, my DT880 600 ohm is coming tomorrow. I will compare them to my 250 ohm on my O2/ODAC. Don't expect a review, just a, " oh 250(or 600) were..."

I was seriously considering getting some 880/250 or 600 ohm models, but I got a chance to get some 990's at a real good price, is there a big difference in the sound of those two? Looking at the graphs on Headroom they look to be very similar with a little upper bass boost on the 990's.

Sweet. Looking forward to it. I heard from another head-fi'er just yesterday or the day before about how he and his friend both tried the 250 ohm and 600 ohm versions with the O2/ODAC and couldn't tell a difference. The only difference they could perceive was when they plugged them into a high output impedance OTL amp. Anyway let us know what you think.

Yeah those are the Premiums. The Pros are black instead of dark grey and the metal arms are black instead of silver. The Pro also has a coiled cable instead of straight.

Yeah the Premiums are one of the least clamping headphones I've ever tried so if those are uncomfortable for you then I don't know what else to tell you. Do you have a really large head?

I have been accused of having a large melon before, so that is probably it.  I plan on trying the book-stretching approach this weekend.

My grados back in the day didn't give me headaches, and I have some wireless sennheisers at home (for when I'm walking around the house or doing yardwork) that don't give me headaches either.

A large melon? As your doctor, I prescribe listening to headphones to alleviate the condition.

Yep, that'd be me. It wasn't with an ODAC, though. We were using the O2 with the Fiio D3 (it's warmer than the ODAC, in case you are wondering).

There wasn't any appreciable difference between 250 or 600 Ohm out of that setup. 250 got louder than 600, but that was about it. Also to note, the 250 Ohm was a brand new out of box pair. The 600 Ohm was my own personal pair that I'd used for about 6 months up to that point. The comparison happened at a meet, and there were probably around 4-5 other people that listened to that same setup. Most of them came away saying that there wasn't any difference. About 2 dudes said they could detect that the 250 Ohm had a slight edge to its treble, and that the 600 Ohm had a bit cleaner bass.

But out of the Burson HA-160D and this one other tube amp (Wing Audio or something like that?), the difference between the 250 and 600 Ohm were pretty apparent.

Was the 600 better?
