I think it's polarizing because of the model naming scheme. Ppl saw that T70 was the successor to the 770 and assumed that the T90 is going to be the successor to the DT990s. A lot of comparisons that I saw seems to point that the T90s aren't the successors they were looking for, lack of bass(compared to dt990) and treble is rolled off(compared to dt990), which to me screams DT880...
That would be very interesting indeed. I tried to make it through the T90 thread looking for exactly that sort of comparison, but the only thing I came across in the first few dozen pages or so was nikongod's comparison of the T90 to his memory of the DT880 which, while I certainly trust his experience, was just one opinion. Most people seemed to want to compare them to the DT770 or DT990, neither of which I have experience with.
Judging by the measurements and Beyer's description of the sound characteristics, the T90 should actually be more similar to the DT880 than any of the other DTxx0 Beyers.
Comparisions and graphs lead me to that conclusion as well. I had both the 880s and 990s 600ohms at one point to compare and although I enjoyed the bass on the 990s, the treble was too harsh for me. Kept the 880s and sold the 990s. Looking forward to trying the T90s.
