How does it sound? Now you say "like nothing"
How does it sound? Now you say "like nothing"

The 02 is a great amp and can drive the beyers really well.
Basically. Revealing (like it should). I can't listen to the 'two blob effect' (lateralisation) of headphones anymore. Properly configured Isone is fantastic (all the haters of it tbh haven't configured it properly).
Of course with the DT880 flaw of shallow soundstage doesn't help but meh, nothing too much I can do about that.
The only thing that should have a sound signature and have all those subjective terms attached is the output, which on here, is headphones and earphones.
Soo i should sell my auditor , as O2 is great ?
joke inside
The O2 is great, but not Auditor great ;)
Also the guy that makes the amp claimed his O2 is better than my Auditor !?!?!?! How can this be?
I'm not familiar with that particular claim, but usually, he claims lower distortion than many other amps. Nothing more. Most SS amps have so little distortion as to be entirely negligible from an auditory standpoint.
Personally, having heard the auditor, I didn't seen or hear anything to warrant the price versus many other SS designs (to me).
*shrug*
Where did he make this claim ? I cannot find it on the blog.
It could also be lower noise level, output impedance, or distortion specifically with low impedance headphones. I guess the Auditor is optimized mainly for use with 600Ω headphones, rather than balanced armature IEMs, for example.
I e-mailed him about how the amp would compare and said while he appreciates their work, his is just as good if not better.
I also tried to take him up on that listening test challenge he boasted and he stopped replying to my e-mails.

I found this response at the blog (in the comments to "Feb 1 Update"), as a reply to another not to be named member bringing up the issue:
"NOBODY has contacted me with a request to participate in any of the blind challenges I've put on the table. Tell "Zombie_X" to start a thread on diyAudio or ABI, someone let me know it's there, and I'll gladly respond in an open public forum to any blind challenge requests."
That's hilarious man, I spoke to him via e-mail about the Auditor and the challenge and he stopped responding. I even posted on his blog about it once and I think he deleted it. In the e-mail he said no one has ever challenged him to a test because they knew better, so I replied saying I'd take him up on the offer and no responses since. I sent him three additional e-mails with no replies. I'd find it hard to believe if he says he never got them.
I no longer have any copies of said e-mail as that was almost a year ago. I wish I had saved them to post here.
I don't know what his game is here but I wouldn't state stuff like this if it wasn't true. I have a reputation here and I am not going to try and damage myself on purpose. I remember he started stuff here in the past (With the Shiit gear) and got people upset and such. I'm not lying here at all, that's what he told me and I'm sticking to it. I know what me and him talked about and that's that.
I won't join diyAudio or ABI for this, I have no need to join those places at all. I won't join to dispute this as it's a petty thing to even argue. I'll let it go and walk away.
Anyways this thread has been a tiny bit derailed so I suggest we get back to the topic. I kind of derailed it with my bit about NwAvGuy but that's that guys.

The measurements whatever way, don't lie though tbh. the Schiit gear debacle was justified though and Schiit, whatever your take, you and I will agree that they made a right mess of things as well.
Properly conducted measurements by an independent will not lie. If you are willing to put your Auditor to the test that way, then it shouldn't be an issue.
That said, yeah, back to DT880 / 600 talk.
Agreed 100%!
As for the DT880 I do miss mine from time to time, but I have the T5p and T1 to satisfy me. The DT880 offers such good value for the money that I'd consider it a steal for even full retail. It's even more evident when you get them on sale for $240 or so.
The DT990 is the same way and is awesome value for dollar.
And yeah I bought the T5p. Thought I'd add that in.

I don't think it was a debacle in the sense that the folks at Schiit came clean and admitted their oversight, fixed it on new production units and offered to replace the units others bought prior to the fix being made available. I thought Schiit handled the situation with poise and class in a very difficult situation. I ended up purchasing my Valhalla after reading that thread as I was so impressed by the way that Jason from Schiit conducted himself, explained the situation and resolved the issue.

How did the Valhalla pair with your DT880 600's? It was a combo I always looked at - but didn't eventually pull the trigger on as I really wanted something I could tube roll with. Ended up getting a LD MKIV and couldn't be happier. Always wondered about the Valhalla though ......
