I only have one album of her: "dry" it's really great rock album, one of the best i know and also one of my best sounding albums! but for a long time i didn't appreciate it right.
she is a great singer also.

I think i am gonna get another album of her, i read very good reviews on "to bring you my love"... would like to have more recommendations and even just opinions on her music from you guys.

I would go Rid of Me next and follow this vital artist through the evolution of her sound. Absorb it, then hit To Bring You My Love to appreciate the shift in mood accented by Albini to Flood.

Your straight on about her voice. It's powerful yet damaged around the edges, husky yet femine; just a great bluesy rock n roller set of pipes. Add her well honed artistic sensibilities for a very formidable package.

I like her piano playing on "White Chalk." Every album is different. She certainly doesn't repeat herself.

well...i will certainly get those albums. thanks for the recommendations.

I wanted to read a little more information on her so i went (as usually) to wikipedia, and it says there that Kurt cubain marked "dry" as one of his 20 most favourable albums! when i listen to it i can see why, it's very grungy!

I second the opinion that you should try Rid of Me next. I think it is her best album by far. To Bring You My Love is critically well-regarded, and many people love it, but it is atypical of her work, if you ask me, and somewhat boring, also if you ask me.

If Dry and Rid of Me rock you out, then you must get Four Track Demos to hear the acid-stripped originals of many of her Albini-era hits. Demos is jagged and punk as hell.

Actually, I just say get them all. Don't overlook the collaborations with John Parrish either.

She opened for U2 way back on their Elevation tour. Don't know if it was the sound quality or me not being familiar with her body of work but I was not impressed at that time.

But then I caught her on Letterman last night singing w/ John Parish. I liked the song so I'm getting that CD for sure.

I second the "get them all" recommendation. And "To bring you my love" is my favourite. It's different from her earlier albums - it's also well recorded, but her voice has been deliberately distorted on some tracks. I think it works really well. Just buy it!

Yeah, they're all good in their own way.

I'm a huge Rid Of Me fan - it's one of my must-haves, all the time. Was hugely influential on me and a band I was in, back in the day.

If so, they should be listening to Let England Shake right now.

So good.

Looking forward to hearing the new one…I've had 4-Track Demos and Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea on in anticipation. Oh, and I'm with my man priest on To Bring You My Love…always felt that record was overrated…

Why not check her records with Spotify?

PJ Harvey

My favorites are Dry, Rid of Me, Stories and White Chalk.

I'm a big fan... except I found White Chalk a bit weird.
