Los Angeles Area Mega Meet, Saturday July 11th - Page 9

Actually, I'm in the same situation as Alai, I'll have 1 DAC, 2 amps, 2 headphones but no CD player.

I will try to remember to bring both of my old sony cd players but they only have optical out. I am actually looking for a new transport, may just order a marantz 5001 so I have digital and newer transport for my dacs, so one of these may be available.

I think Paul (DeusEx) has offered a spare player (DVD player that plays CD I believe). So I guess I'm good to go. Lol.

I guess I'll take you up on the potential offer as Alai seems to have gotten his problem taken care of.

Thanks Dave!

Does anyone coming have some DIY knowledge and feel like replacing the xlr outs on my beta 22 with neutrik combo xlr+1/4 outs? I would of course pay for parts cost plus a bit more for your time. I have no idea about DIY but I can't imagine messing with a few wires would take more than a few minutes.

edit: also this would be nice to let everybody listen to the beta 22 with SE headphones, not just balanced ones

I wouldn't mind borrowing a transport with digital out if anybody has one to spare for the meet. If not I guess I'll buy a DVD player or something since my computer is too big to lug over there.

Yeah, I'll be bringing a DVD player that doubles as a CDP
Here are the specs at CNet; Toshiba SD 4980 - DVD player specs and Video Players and Recorder specifications - CNET Reviews

It's a decent little player (worth ~$120), both analog/digital ports...

6 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!

Is it too late for anyone to be able to get on the list to attend this. I am a fresh to the game newbie with no real experience in terms of hi fi audio equipment and would love to come and listen to see what i am really missing out on and to get a point of reference so to speak. I live in san diego which is a little drive so i don't know if i will definitely be able to come but if i were able to is there a possibility of me coming through and if so could i bring my donation with me or should i send it to you now. If it isn't possible its and totally understandable but it doesn't hurt to try.

It's very possible. We still have table spots left for people bringing gear. Do you have any gear to bring with you?

If you have room, and can't fill the space, I'm happy to bring my rig, just let me know - it's in my signature.
I'll also be bringing my laptop with some good FLAC files.

I wish I could come, but I am in the process of upgrading all my gear so I pretty much only have ESW9's, and I am pretty busy as it is. This looks like a lot of fun, maybe I will make the next mega meet.
