I'm a commercial photographer and I used to photograph a ton of concerts for record labels, management companies, etc. It was always a blast shooting concerts, but I have moved on and shoot other more lucrative things now. I also go see a ton of concerts for pleasure. As these folks are pretty different in what they do, it's difficult to pick a favorite. Lou Donaldson and Gerri Allen were definitely top notch. I recently heard Charlie Haden & Kenny Baron's City Nights CD and Kenny Baron's playing, or at least the program live was lacking behind that stellar duo performance.

I'd say my least favorite from this bunch is Hiromi. I have seen her together with Stanley Clarke and there she was hold back a little but in her own Trio format she was showing off a little too much. The SPL was almost rock concert level, my better half had to walk out, even though she was using ear plugs. And musically just not my cup of tea. I won't get her latest record "Alive" which basically provided most of the concerts repertoire.

Hard to remember all the opening bands, but I'll try to put together a list.

Van Halen (Hagar)
Alter Bridge
-with submersed and crossfade others
Evanescence
-with seether, three days grace and breaking Benjamin
AFI
Mötley Crüe
-with siixx am, buck cherry, papa roach
Killswitch Engage
-with All That Remains and others
In This Moment
-with the Bitcher Babies and others
Avenged Sevenfold
-with buckcherry, papa roach, and theory of a deadman (I think)
The Used
-with Atreyu and others

Also did Warped Tour, and would love to do that again. Good times. Lots of bands I wish I saw, or saw more of, though.

Beatles at Shea stadium, now that's pretty cool.  I would take that any day over my fat and soon to be dead Elvis.

The 5 posts prior to yours were impressive as well.

I love live acts new and old.

I have a framed collage of my (old) concert tickets up on the wall. Obviously it's not complete - some venues would take in the whole tickets instead of just the stubs.

My first one didn't make it either - Dutch Monsters Of Rock festival 1988 (Iron Maiden, Kiss, David Lee Roth, Anthrax, Helloween, Great White) - got lost before I started my collection.

The black stains on some tickets were caused by glue I used to stick them to the background. These are the cheap tickets printed on paper at the vending desk that you mostly got at some point... this took all of the fun out of a collection like this because then most concert tickets looked alike, making everything a lot less colorful :(

I haven't been to a ton, but the ones I attended were quite good

Beyoncé (twice because I'm completely in love with her)
Alicia Keys
The 1975
John Legend
Tori Kelly
Janelle Monae
Iggy Azalea (she was actually terrible, I don't know why I went)

I like it, my wife started a scrap book, but I like the idea of a collage a lot better.

Agreed the newer tickets are only of interest for the name and date only
