Ultra Desktop Amp vs. BUDA

Is it fair to assume that the amps sound the same if attached to an analog non-balanced source and listened through a non-balanced headphone?

Does the extra cost of balanced input/output make a significant difference?

Yup.

Not if you're not using it balanced, in fact it might slightly under-perform as the power supply is working harder in the BUDA.

unbalanced source > UDA > HD650 w/cardas SE cable
unbalanced source > BUDA > HD650 w/cardas XLR cable

Just kidding ... but something like that---and at a pretty significant increase in cost.

I assume that upgrading to the BUDA from the ultra micro stack will be more of an improvement from the comparison made above...?

so you are actually saying that between the SE ultra desktop and the BUDA the difference is not night and day?

another question about the BUDA and balanced drive in general:
does the bass quantity increased a little bit? or maybe dicreased..?
