ok. cool. just curious you have listed aune t1 as well as schiit vali in your inventory. (source and amp). do you use both together? I was reading aune has tube buffer in dac itself (ie its a tube dac). so does your setup has two tube stages (one in dac, one in amp?)

Yes I use both together. I don't know if a Tube-DAC exists, but a tube-buffered DAC isn't a tube-DAC :P

What modifications did you do ?

Finally moved to a fully balanced setup. Anyone interested in an audition can drop by my place. I'm stay in the South Delhi area. PM me for details. Most of the stuff is in my signature.

Vandal,

does the Audio GD DAC you have have the Sabre chip?

Anyone a fan of the Sony MDR SA 5000 here ?

One proud owner! :) .... Best pairing was with Maverick A100 and HRT MS-II DAC(WrathZombie's)

The detail levels are phenomenal! Upthere with Wachara Chin's DIY E-stat headphones ( that measured on par with Stax SR009).

I am hoping to dive into making some SS amps.

Cheers,

A~

Hey.

Awesome set up.

I'm from Mumbai. I wouldn't call myself an expert. But I love music and this hobby as much as you do :)

Hey thanks!

I'm no expert either, chasing low latency AD/DA for the guitar got me into the pro audio interface thing.

Have a great weekend you all!

Not heard it but where can I get one to listen to ? Did you get it here?

Thanks

Hi all,

Made a ribbon speaker with some Neos and household aluminium foil.

Made a resistor out of a pencil to act as load to the amplifer coz I could get only about 0.017 Ohms of resistance from the actual speaker.

As obvious, the pencil burnt down. But god there was some lovely sound

A pic for you guys. I used the lid and body of candy box for the frame.

Next up, I am planning to use a step down trafo for impedance matching and also trim the aluminium foil to increase efficiency.

Cheers

That's bloody impressive A!

Slightly off topic question. Different USB cables make a diff to audio quality!?
As a software dev I refuse to believe that.

Power cables? Unless they're power conditioners I refuse to believe that either!

Anybody have any experience with this kind of stuff. I will say when it comes to analog signals over a wire, the cables can make a huge difference. I know this from the guitar world of cork sniffery. But power cables and USB cables have my head reeling for reason.

Of course if I'm ignorant of something fundament going on here I'd like to know.

I believe in using a good cable for both power and USB but I am skeptical of any step up in SQ due to "better" cables.
I do believe that HP cables can make a bit of a difference.

I'm on the same page. We'll constructed cables are less prone to failure. I know, I've blown a tube amp due to cable failure.

HP cables, absolutely, it's carrying analog signals, on a guitar capacitance
, length etc effect warmth and brightness, sometimes even buffers are needed.

Oh there's one more crazy thing out there, cable direction for electron flow, apparently some are designed to work one way better. Is this black magic or what. I use a cable that came directional preference, I'm yet to hear any diff. LOL

More like completely off topic XD

But either way, it depends on the cable material. The use of different cable materials like say 7n OFC can flavour the sound differently from stock resulting in better/worse sound to the user in question and hence preferable but there are lots of us who let placebo influence sound quality to point of exaggerating it.

Besides using a better grade cable ( high purity silver for eg. ) let the high sensitivity of the drivers generally pick up the differences easily.

Regards,
~A
