Gaudy, vulgar, repulsive, detestable are all words that definitely come to mind.

On the plus-side, it might bring some credulity to those who claim to have golden ears.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Same thinking here. First off, if they touched the amount of bass and lowered it, even slightly, I'm not interested even if the rest of the frequency spectrum sounds cleaner. I bought the Turbine for my basshead needs and I think many people did too.

However, if Monster wants to send a review pair my way....

haha! good thinking!

Yeah, I wonder if they will have a giveaway program this time.

Totally agree. Hideous even. You'd think that $250-300 would buy you a little bit of aesthetic refinement, but not in this case apparently. Hope they offer other color/finish options. I wouldn't be caught dead with something like that in my ears, no matter how good they sound.

The only thing I don't like, is the price ... But I like the gold look.

i don't think they look bad at all: just bright. but, i would like to see a better cable on the more expensive one! the um2 for instance and the w3 don't look good to me (rather like a clear and a black booger), but they sound quite nice.

different strokes.

Monster, if you are listening, please, please, please do not bling these out!!!!

Throw a sound quality diamond/crystal on the end of the buds, and I'm sold.

X2, The design is terrible for 300USD price tag.

So you put the Maximo 590, quite above the Turbine ?
I find funny that in an other thread someone said exactly the contrary.

Jant71 said:

In performance it is above the likes of the PL30's/ J2's/ CX300's and below the $100 plus phones like the Phonaks/ Turbines/ IE7's etc.

In this thread

Conclusion: it's hard to make any choice by just reading this forum
Although he also said later:

Not saying they sound similar though. Quite different but on that level of quality sound. They compete with the RE0 and CK10, though those need no EQ and are still better. Adding a notch of EQ to compete with the likes of PFE, RE0, and CK10 is still actually a compliment to them.

The 590's are a keeper.

I hope they change the cable. I hate the current cable on the Turbines. It's too flimsy and a more robust angled plug would also be preferred. Judging by the photo it seems like it'll be the same type though.

Haven't had any issues with the cable yet (which is amazing, considering how clumsy I can be...), but I've read of the problems at the Y split. Hopefully they won't do like my SA6's cable did - twice.

Just one thing to add regarding the cable... a built-in slider after the Y split would be a good idea for people wearing these over-the-ear. I had to cannibalize my pair of AKG K414p to add one (tho the AKG don't really need it in the first place).
