Is this an open meet ? or do I have to sign up to go ? Is it ok to go there without bringing something, well maybe just my Ipod touch and Denon C700 ? If it is ok then I will try to be there as this will be my 1st ever Head-Fi meet .

Yes! You should come and bring whatever gear you want. I think there will be a small payment necessary to pay for the facilities, so bring a little cash.

Meets are lots of fun - you'll love it. I'm going to a small one this weekend and I'll be driving up from LA to go to this one. I'll probably attend two or three more this year, too.

Getting to sample a lot of gear is really fun - you'll get to try out all the stuff you've been reading about. But the real fun is after the meet. There's usually drinking, going out to eat and socializing. You'll be surprised at how much you have in common with other members. So plan on being there.

Ohhh, a meet around Berkeley? I'm interested. Perhaps I can bring my Audio-Gd Phoenix but I'll need to find myself a ride first.

Eric, I guess you haven't been following the thread but the L.A. meet is certainly not small. It's a 2100 sq. ft. room with about the same number of people as the Norcal meet.


Gary, you should try to bring the Phoenix up to the Norcal meet if you can. More people need to hear it.

There are a few folks coming up from the LA area maybe you could hitch a ride with them. Hope you can make it but totally understand if you couldn't.

it is an open meet just post the you are coming and you are all set. Feel free to bring as much or as little gear as you are comfortable with.

Meets are great and the only problem with going to one is once you attend one you'll likely be hooked.

For those that are attending for the first time here are a few tips.

There is no requirement to bring gear but do not be put off by higher end rigs that will be there. If your stuff is entry level or mid level people will still be interested in hearing it.

Get there early and stay for most if not all of the event. My first meet in Florida in 2004 I made the mistake of treating the event as just a place to try gear. I wound up meeting some great people and some of by best friends at the event.

If you are somewhat shy, force yourself to meet people. Many of us know each other but we totally welcome new people.

Try as much gear as you like but please be aware that it belongs to someone else and treat it carefully and with respect. Please do not move gear around or reconfigure anything unless the owner of the gear grants permission.

Most of all have a great time and get to know the people there.

A bargain. I may have a guest with me as well, and we'll both pitch in. Trying to decide what to bring, since this is my first. Are people interested in run-of-the-mill stuff, e.g., iMod & Mustang? Is it worth it to bring along my just received Promitheus DAC? If I did that, I would probably bring a full setup including the Apache. Suggestions?
