Which ones did you try? The HD448? What did you listen to them out of, and what did you think of the bass presence? (If you don't mind my asking. )

428, 438 and 448 iirc.
I have no idea what they were connected to. It was basically a wall full of heapdhones. Far from ideal anyway. Bass presence was very nice. They are all very much a like but the 438 has different pads that are made out of velour. The other two were made out of pleather.
The velour (438 iirc) sounded a bit more wooly compared to the 448 which was a bit tighter overall. But again, they all sounded quite like each other and it's hard to do a proper A/B with different pads in a store.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the reply. I wish they had a "Wall of Sennheiser" here in Boston...

I think the 438 looks hawt. Not a pair id take outside and walk around with in public, but then again Id never take any of my cans out cept for my D1k. I want the 438 really bad. I need a really comfy set of cans, my D1ks are not that comfy anymore. My ears get bruised fast. Plus, I'm in desperate need of a great bass experience :[

438 here i come!

oh come on! you act as if the design's is skullcandy-alike! it's not! besidses whats the most important the look or the sound? I can personally say thar the HD438 are great for rock jazz and classical! I think it's just a matter of taste so I would walk around with these
