Actually his first album, MCMXC a.D., is considered his finest work. After that the only one that really shines is 'Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!'. Great stuff to listen to in bed with phones on.

YES!

Mike Oldfield's works from the 70s: Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn.
I assume the "gapless album" means the same as a concept album? Basically there has to be gaps on side changes so no LP can be gapless.

Immortal Technique's album The 3rd World does mainly gapless stuff. That's right, I nominated a Hip Hop CD...

Coheed and Cambria isn't entirely gapless, but has lots of transitions from track to track. Also, the operas at the ends of In Keeping Secrets and both Good Apollo records are gapless.

IIRC.

Yeah, I think you completely missed my point there.. doh

any album recorded prior to CD always has at least one gap.. I was commenting on how the Wall (if CD's were long enough - *could* flow continuously in a loop.)

Dark Side of the Moon, by Pink Floyd.

Yeah, totally obvious choice, but it was the first record that came to mind. I've been listening to it for over 25 years and still love it.

The SACD version is reason enough to buy a SACD player.

[QUOTE=andyk;5743334]Gapless fans:

What is your nomination for the best gapless NON-Live Album?

Mine is:

The Beatles-Love

Anyone that asks the reason for gapless, I would simply tell them to listen to "Love", then come back to me if you still have a question about gapless playback.

Now that you mention it, I have to agree with you whole heartedly. If gapless wasn't an option the entire dynamic of the recording would be changed......for the worst

Now that I try to think of gapless albums, I realize I don't know that many. Disturbing.

Anyways, I second Wish You Were Here.

The Dandy Warhols - Thirteen Tails

Especially the first three tracks, which really flow together nicely.
