Beats By Dr. Dre

Hi Guys. We are having a debate on Overclock.net and being a computer forum, not an audio forum, it is very hard to convince people. Do you guys think you can post your thoughts on the topic here? Thanks. Original Thread: Beats By Dr. Dre - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Why don't you send them here, instead?

I really don't want to register at another forum to comment on just one thing. If a lot of new people turn up just for one thread, they'll all look like sock puppets.

Get them to come here. Post links to the several threads on the Beats, but also be sure to link them to threads about good headphones. Maybe they'll pick some up.

no i meant just post here, they are reviewing the thread. anyways, many of them do have accounts here.

EDIT:L I don't really think it's about the op anymore, just the troll.

Umm, why? There are like 50 other beat threads here. Just send them to your favorite one you find!

IMHO, I didn't like them when I tried them out at worst buy, but people said they are listenable if you ask the people to take the box out. They had WAY too much bass, recessed mids, and ok highs at best. I'd say they are one of the best noise cancelling headphones, but I haven't heard the PXC450...
The QC2s were about 10-20% worse.

Keep in mind that I'm the farthest thing away from a basshead.

But, if you don't need/want noise cancelling, there are way better for $300. I'd buy a pair for $50 though to take on airplanes and mowing lawns.

To the overclock people,
I saw the Turbines mentioned. They have a fan base here.

Whatever happened to "Don't feed the troll"?

Just ignore James. If he's happy he spent that much money on his Beats, good for him. Just don't let him near my rig or my music!

Was over at "Worst Buy" yesterday and decided to pop the "Dre's" on for a quick listen and all I could think was "Turn off the sub Dude!!" It's obviously not a very fair audtion with the supplied source. Based on thier display source. I'd call the them subwoofer Skullcandies. Plenty of bass but no control or clarity in the bass or the mids and highs. Just what 90% of Pop youth would enjoy. But a bit pricely especially considering that these kids will need to start saving for hearing aids in thier 40's if they listen to these Dre's like the store display puts it out.
The clerk tired to point out the big red "Turn it UP" button when all I could think of was "how do you turn them down!"

You should have asked for them to take one out of the display for you. The volume is deafening, I would seriously advise anyone against trying out the display.

The beats themselves aren't bad headphones. Their problem is that they're overpriced. Quality-wise they're about on-par with QuietComforts.

I asked Futureshop to take them out of the demo display and they said they can't. The pair I listened to were distorting and that wasn't even using the really loud button choice. Idiots set up the demo with no volume control, just two buttons for loud and really loud. My ATH-M50 closed headphones are much better than the Dr Dre Beats and cost me $100.00 less.

Ah I used to go to overclock.net back when I was a wee little kid.

I forgot how but I ended up getting in an argument with admin dude and got banned. I also happen to know a guy who used to mod there, and he also got in an argument with him and got banned. Pretty sure we both asked to be banned though.

ANYway, another beats bashing thread. I almost feel sad for those little headphones, to expensive for the pop kids to buy and not enough SQ for the guys who do spend 350$ on headphones.

Interesting, I did the same thing at Best Buy today when I was looking for a set of headphones for my grandson, Same impression, really boomy and messy bass,

I listened to them at best buy today and thought they sounded kick-ass. They were way too loud though.

Seeing that Dr. Dre created them, what else can you expect for them to sound like other than ridiculously emphasized on the bass? A majority of people my age and younger enjoy subs in their cars and really only care about BASS blowing their eardrums out which kind of infuriates me, seeing that our generation will be deaf before we even retire. I don't want to have to yell at everyone when I call them on the phone in my 40s.
