Best HD800 Amp - Page 25

Best HD800 amp? - If the choice would be only between a Leben CS300, Yamamoto HA-02, Benchmark DAC1 and a DNA Sonett with balanced output it is quite easy for me to choose even though I am using the Sonett for only two days now and have lots of experience with the others. Of these four the Sonett is superior in every way for driving the HD800 I think.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

HeadRoom Balanced Ultra Desktop Amp
Sennheiser HD 800 Headphones

Have you compared to the single ended Sonett? I have heard its quite the little amp in its own right.

Nope, but I am sure you are right, reading the fantastic reviews. Went straight for the balanced version, suspecting it brings even more out of the HD800

Best amp for HD 800? In first hand, recabling to symetrical connection is very important. I advise Stefan Audio Art Voice cable, this is very excellent cable for HD 800 with serious amps.

I highly advise two amps. The solid amp RP 010B. Francis Lo (fkclo) prepared excellent reviews and experience about listening with several ams:

Tube amp, this is more complicated. I advice Balancing act or B-52.

I would like to say that combination HD 800 with Casea Lyra is very good combination. This amp is excellent device and with price at about 850 dollars is excellent solution for you. There exists the solution with DAC too. With this solution you obtain very good SE amp.

Pasul, Kuba4 and knopi are my excellent friends from Czech republic and they are excellent audiophile enthusiasts. Their advices from 24th page are useful for you.

Considering the price of the RP 010B my vote would be a β22

x2 on the B22.

The more I listen to the HD800, the more I think there's a need for tube in my setup, either in the source or amp. Since I'm quite satisfied with the B22, I opt for the tube source which brings the warmth and smoothness that I was looking for.

johnwmclean – Yes, the price is very high, but this is top solid amp. If you want something less expensive then RPX-300. As I said, it depends which style you most prefer. Top reproduction deliver you excellent solid amp and same excellent tube amp. For some sorts of music better is solid amp, for other tube amp. You need do decision if you want single ended (SE) connection or balanced one. If second one, then you seriously need the amp with price at about 2k dollars or more, to obtain serious result.

You should read up on the Beta22 friend. Its name goes hand in hand with "top solid-state".

Shahrose – You probably not understand me. Here are two approaches, solid amps and tube amps. They do different sound presentation. I think the solid amps need be solid amps, not improvisation of something else. And same for tube amps, they need deliver all best what is typical for tubes. Naturally, the technological aspect says that tube amps are not possible deliver several properties in several aspects of sound reproduction as solids. Here are products which are hybrids, both solids and tube amps. So if you want to have the advantages of solid amps and tube amps in one device, these products give you solution. Rudistor’s solid amps are true solid amps, not “imitations”.

what do you mean by imitations neptius?

neptius - Sorry but this is not fact. Difference sound of solid state or tube topology. My experience tould something other....

Care to elaborate more? Have no idea what you meant 'imitations'. The B22 is dead neutral, without coloration and has no tube 'imitations'...

IMO the B22 has no imitation. ;)
