Sennheiser HD800 vs STAX SR-007II

Thread Starter
From what I saw the HD800 requires a good amplifier, that will put the headphone + amplifier more or less at the same cost as the STAX combination (SR-007II + SRM-007tII). I'm considering buying either the O2 or the HD800 and would like to read your thoughts on the subject, and most important to have comparisons between the two by those fortunate people who bought both. Thanks.

PS: And I know... the STAX amplifier... better buying another amplifier... and the HD800 need... I would like also to have your opinions on that. I'm pointing to a neutral and detailed system.

...and THIS is my thread!
I already have the Ω and HD800 is coming. I want more opinions from happy owners of both.

i'm looking to compare the HD800 to the HE60 this weekend, but probably not to the O2.

Lucky you Axle, I think read somewhere that Woo Audio introduced a new Stax Amp.

why not?

The O2 needs a very beefy electrostatic amplifier, the 007tII doesn't quite have the power to show what it can really do.

KGSS is packed up, as i am looking to replace it with stat tube amp.

I guess it's the T2?

I would be very interested as well. Its either these 2 or a L3000 but man 3.5k is alot to drop all at once.

Because there is no comparison here. O2 is a league behind. I've compared HD800 with Senn stats, and I think the other thread comparing to R10 are valid ones.

Interesting!
Since I am quite familiar with the O2 I would love to see a direct comparison of the two. Any of the four O2 models would do...

I've listened to HD800 with two amps - the one recommended by Sennheiser Lehmann audio amp and a Violectric headphone amp. I wouldn't state that the Omega is inferior to HD800.

I can do an O2 mk1/717 comparison. Since the O2 will be disadvantaged slightly by the 717, the HD-800s will also initially be disadvantaged by my not having a balanced amp yet.

Can't wait to see these comparisons!

I'll gladly buy an O2mk1 off anybody who doesn't need it anymore
