I'm selling my VALAB DAC which was purchased near Xmas 08. The reason for selling is that I'm looking for a dac with a volume control on them to easily control the volume of my active speaker set.
Due to expensive international postage i am only opening this sale for Australian buyers only.

I dont like to hide any details so here are the quirks with the VALAB:
- The power switch/toggle does not like to be pushed to the left/upwards when its ALREADY set to the 'ON' position . If you push it to the left/upwards then the the device will turn off until you release your finger from the switch to stop pushing it to the left/upwards. This should not be a problem since you usually just switch the item on and wont fiddle with it during its operation.
- Since i've opened the dac to take pictures and check whether i did get the 1ppm clock you can see that the screws on them has some minor scratches/dents on them that was caused by the screwdriver slipping on them when i tried to unscrew the dac that was initially screwed really tightly by VALAB
- It is known that for some type of recorded music you can hear clippings on the DAC. Personally i have not heard any of these clippings that are caused by the dac with the music collection that i have which includes those top20 pop music that are affected with the loudness war (All clippings i've heard on these top20 music are caused by the poor mastering in the recording itself since its also heard with my X-fi card and DAP). Audiophile recordings from Chesky,Fim, Sheffield Labs, DCC, MSFL are all free from clippings and i did not hear clippings whatsoever with these audiophile mastered recording. But as usual YMMV
- Hum: You can hear a very low mechanical hum when the device is turn on. Note that the hum is as low or even lower than the noise that comes up from the typical switched mode power adaptor.
- Since the dac uses 8 tda1543 dac chip in parallel this dac can get very warm. It doesnt get as hot as my Asus laptop power adaptor but its near that temperature.
- There is a pink/redish tint on one of the 4 rubber feet.
