Trust me, I was the same as you. I thought it would be awesome. I think it would be better for you to get a good phone and carry your touch around.

But what's "good" phone? I don't mind the touch screen texting, and I don't really make phone calls much. The ones I've made so far have been fine. Battery life isn't a big problem for me, unless I go camping. And I don't.

I just bought a touch, and though I like it I am considering taking it back and signing my life away for an iPhone to carry one less device too. Is the sound the same as the 2G touch? Also, I would like to use my shure's, what happens when the phone rings and I am listening to music?

I dunno if it sounds like the Touch 2G, but the headphone out sounds better than my first gen. Touch. That might be magical novelty effect though. The music fades when the phone is activated.

A good phone can be many, many phones. If battery life isn't a problem, there is one flaw gone, it is a problem for me, I can't even squeeze out 6 hours of use from mine. I have many, many, many software problems, I always need to restore, lose my numbers etc. It gets really annoying, but you'll see in a few months. To the person wanting an iPhone above (not the OP) wait, the new iPhone is coming out soon.

Apple rarely (never?) disclose any information before the product is released. But I guess we can expect:
* Larger storage capacity. Probably 32GB or even 64GB.
* Higher resolution camera.
* Video recording.
* MMS.
* ...

jonathan, you seem like a reader. look at ereader, stanza and even if you are more adventurous, kindle for the iphone. some great dictionaries (really great) and for 99 cents, wordbook does most of what the other ones do, but does not hold the stodgy interior as well.

loads of great games too and lately, a good office suite called quickoffice. ask questions, i am a junkie.

oh yeah, but are you not worried over the new LG phone? Watch out!

For a whole list of rumoured spec, look here, but don't take anything more than rumour till the phone actually dawns on mankind. The article is a lengthy one as it is linked all over the place to the rumour sources, but i think it should give you an idea of what to expect.

as for sound, they should be different. the iphone uses the wolfson though it does not hiss and the touch 2g uses the cirrus logic (i believe). both sound good, but honestly, i prefer the sound of the iphone 3g.

had mine a year and a half, battery life is terrible now, you cant easily get to the battery,
mine often crashes, needs a restart, not to much of a problem,

theres a whole raft of touch screen multi phones coming, and i bet the iphone will have the worst contract mins/texts i definitly like touch screens tho

Yes. Take it back and wait for the 32GB version coming out in Q4 this year. I think a 64GB version won't be available until next year.

Also note that when you buy an Apple product it will be redundant as soon as the next version of software/hardware is released.
