I sent them back the first time and they supposedly shaved and shortened them. The result was much the same, canal pain in the left ear within 20 minutes of use. The second time I found a much beter audiologist (Jamie Larsen of Burnaby, B.C. listed on JH's page) and had new impressions made. That did the trick.
Quality impressions made with the correct materials (not the soft pink foam) are key.
I got mine done from Jamie as well. I've gone through atleast 10 different audiologists all over Vancouver and no one did it as well as Jamie. Jesus, he was a performer himself who had to use CIEMs as well and he knows our pain of getting bad impressions done by incompetent technicians. So he goes through extra care and trouble to get impressions done right. Kudos to Jamie Larsen!
And hello fellow Vancouverite! :) We must get together sometime at Headphonebar~
