I don't think the graphs matter that much unless you're talking about a general sound sig. It usually matters how the bass is presented eg bass always on / the maker of the iem can make it accurate bass but capable of blowing your brains off

It kills me that Tyll didn't measure the ciems they had for the review.

Yup would love to see his measurement someday.

I think we share (to some extend) a preference on the need for bass extension, but hate boomy flabby uncontrolled bass.  JH13pro to many user is in fact bass-light and hence many would prefer the JH16pro.  I would describe it as them NOT having the bloated midbass that plague so many IEM/CIEM.  This is one of the closer sig on an IEM to the LCD3 I have heard to date (and a big pre-requisite for me to even consider them is they need to be very transparent).

I consider myself a basshead, and I never thought the JH13 is bass-light to me. Sure, the JH16 must have more bass than 13, but to me the bass of the JH13 sounds just right. I agree that the JH13 doesn't have bloated, bassy boomy bass; the quality of bass in JH13 is the best I've heard in any IEM.

Which of your 3 full sized cans is the tonal balance of the JH13 closer to songmic?  TH900, LCD-3 or HE-6?

It's relative but they can become decidedly warm with a simple cable change as well, or lean or middy. It's a neutral IEM that tells you what's happening without just sounding analytic.

If you want dynamic sounding bass, you'd be better off with dynamic drivers imo. JH16's bass when the maximum quantity is called for sounds exactly like the LCD3 with the Stratus on stock tubes. Strong but not muddy nor creeping into mids. JH16's bass when the track doesn't call for it reminds me of the LCD3 with a portable amp like the O2.

I have the UM3X and playing around in JRiver using the IF measurements... this is what I feel is my ideal curve (green is the corrected curve post para eq).

Either JH sound like that?  Would have to check but I think that's the 535 curve /facepalm

Wait for the Earsonics S-EM6!!

I think you'd find the 13 closer but flatter from 100 to 500 with a rising bass below 100.

Or wait for the rumored new Flagship from JH. People are saying it will be unveiled at RMAF

Interesting.  You would have thought bringing freqphase to the lower models or another amp/dac would be more likely.

I totally forgot JH was coming out with something new. I think I'll still like the JH13 but I do wonder what their new product will be.

Having auditioned both the S-EM6 and demo JH13Fp, I'd take the JH anytime.

The treble in the EM6 is not as sparkle nor details as the JH13.... too roll-off for me.

AT their RRP, I'd rather take K3003 as it has the aggressive sound sig like JH13.

YMMV though
