Well after a few years i finally have gotten my footfall noise figured out.  It does appear to be that the soft ear canal was somehow not holding the JH13s perfectly in place.  That slight movement would cause the loud step noise.  Pushing them in and or wearing them fairly often, it seems that I will have times with no real noise at all.  Boy is that great.  Had it today, i could walk around and enjoy them in all situations.  So at least i did get to the bottom of the issue and know that if i push them deep in and my deep canal can seal around it instead of just my outer ear that i have success.  This is mainly for those of you who have had this problem which i have suffered since the beginning.

thats great to hear dallan, though i've never had the problem that you did, it makes me happy that you can now use your 13's in more situations :)

speaking of my 13's though, the stock cable finally went out a few days ago, got a split in one of the cables in the left earpiece, so now im waiting for my replacement to arrive from JHAudio, but these ones lasted two and a half years of intense use so i cant really blame them

Yeah, i still have my original cables but the 13's have not gotten the kind of use that i had originally imagined due to the noise problem.  I ended up replacing them with Edition 8 LE headphones in many situations that i would have used them.  So maybe i will get a little more time with my cable.

Thanks for the kind words, they really are great, just glad that i will have more opportunity to enjoy them now.

Maybe you could ask JH about what you could paint the tip perimeter with for a very slightly firmer fit like clear nail polish etc.

Not a fit issue. I tried frying the stems thicker during one of my many adjustments. It has something to do with the soft tissue in my eat canal. At first the noise was the worst but after half an hour of wearing, got better. Then I found more lately that if I over pushed the stem in it would kind of grab and help hold it. It's been a long process thru this thread I had some posts about it and others have pmed me with similar issues.

I just received my JH-13 Pros.  They seem to fit great, but they are horribly sibilant.  I've had the Shure SE425 and SE535, which I liked.  But the JH-13 Pros are so sibilant that they are really unpleasant to listen to.  Any idea what the problem could be?  Thanks!

were they purchased brand new and not a refit? Or it might just be that your finally hearing the source, the in ears youve been using are known for having pretty rolled off treble, and the JH-13s are pretty revealing

They are brand new.  I considered whether it might be that I am finally hearing hearing the "true source," but it just sounds too poor for me to believe that.  Thanks for the response, though.  I do appreciate it.

Well once you get to this point in headphones, it really does become a game of source first. When youve got a headphone as transparent and revealing of flaws as the JH-13 is, you really do have to look at where the signal is coming from, cause they will show any deficiencies down stream very quickly. Like right now im listening to mine out of a iPod classic, and while they do sound prett good, they sound like **** right now compared to how they sound at home, but i would never blame the headphones for that.

What are you using as a source?

An iphone 4s and a Squeezebox Touch.  The vocals sound really recessed, almost like something is wrong with the driver at that frequency.

I guess the other question is: are you sure the music itself is well produced? In terms of how it was recorded, mixed, and then compressed?

I would agree that the treble can be a bit splashy on these, but recessed vocals is pretty much the exact opposite of how I heard the JH13 demos.

@Hefner I agree with the other posters. The JH13 are revealing and bright but I have not found them to be sibilant overall. Any rare sibilance I have experienced has turned out to be the track being badly produced. Try testing them out on another source\higher bitrate and also try any particularly sibilant tracks out with other sources\earphones. That way you should be able to tell whether its an issue with the source\music or possibly the JH13. If the above tests still indicate the problem lies with the JH13, it could be a problem with how the JH13 interact with your ear canals - there have been some people on the JH16 that had a similar issue and some alterations of the tubes fixed the problem for them.

Hello,

So I just came from local Audiologist that is an authorized dealer and I demoed JH16, JH13 & JH11.

First let me say that I'm no audiophile...  The source I have is IPad/IPhone and stream Spotify (Extreme quality ~320Kbps).

I do have a universal Klipsch that I was comparing to...

This is only my opinion.. but I gotta say... JH13 was flat for me... and JH11 & JH16 sounded similar to the Klipsch but JH16 had more punch.  They really didn't sound 1K more to me :)

From reading reviews... I really thought I was going to get floored with the sound.. I mean my Klipsch is less that $100...

I did compare a song I bought from ITunes against Spotify... and Spotify did sound much better.  If I'm not mistaken ITunes are ~220Kbps ?

I gotta say, maybe its just my source... ?

How do people get FLAC music ?  Buying CD's and ripping them ?  What is the highest quality to get on IPhone ? Obviously for me it's much easier to stream music... but I would like to purchase a FLAC song and attempt to compare to Spotify... and see what I may be missing ?

I was so unimpressed that maybe its the cable or I need a DAC/AMP ?
