If the Shadow could sound at least as good as the Mustang, that'd be great. The Mustang is a very nice, little amp that sounds wonderfully and has great fun factor.

When I talk about speed I talk about accuracy of the peaks and all.

iQube has a problem of hanging on to the peaks to me.

Take a piano run for example, the exact split second the pianist lifts his finger from the key, the dampener hits the string and stops it from sounding. This split second lack of fundamentals is the best example of speed I can describe. Other than the idea of a rimshot as well. If you've heard how these actually sound like in real life, the decay is almost instant and you can really hear the peaks and the contrast of the dynamics.

I tried the iQube and iQube V2 at a shop in Singapore. Neither of them being to come close in terms of speed.

I'm not surprised because the iQube v1 and v2 just have the same amp section.

I think the Shadow sounds very similar to a Mustang, and I prefer both a little more than my Pico or Predator (which are still both great with most IEM). The Predator does have a little warmer more aggressive sound signature than the Pico, but the P-51 sounds more expansive and less forward than a Predator while still remaining warmer than a Pico and without a bass hump. The P-51 is still a little aggressive in a good energetic kind of way. Switching between the P-51 and Shadow at the Colorado meet 2 weeks ago, I thought the two were more similar than different.

The Pico Slim, when it's out, will be great for gym along with a Nano.
tyrion seems quite pleased with running his JH13s from a HeadAmp Gilmore Lite:

The Shadow and P-51 are very close with a slight edge going to the Shadow in transparency and speed but I think this will be noticed mostly with the best in monitors. The Shadow is very, very transparent and works very well with the JH13's and my Ultrasone Ed. 9. Oh and the ESW10's and . . . :^)

ok just got back from the NorCal meet and I attended with the intent to try and see how well the JH 13s scale with better amps and dacs and well they improve and sound great with the best amps that are out there.

I've owned PS1s, L3000s, Qualias, RS1s (vintage ones), 650s, AD2000s, AT 2002s, GS1000s ... and if I had to shoose just one it would be the JH13s. They very much improve with better amps and I listened to them with the best out there today and feel that the GS1 may be the amp to beat for these.

Cliffs notes for pictures?

Thanks a lot Dave and hockeyb for getting those meta-impressions into the first post. What a service to this forum. Now, if someone wants to track down the pictures that people have posted, how great that would be. Of course I realize it's about how they sound not how they look, but for someone who's already ordered them and still needs some ideas for color and artwork, how great would that be.

Yes they are intriguing the way they can sound great out of a good source and can continue to improve with a better amp but back to a good source, they are still very enjoyable and rewarding. I am listening with an experimental amp right now using some choral music and the sound is huge, powerful and inspiring.

thanks ab_ba. it's very time consuming compiling (and maintaining) these lists. perhaps you'd be willing to take on the project you've suggested and make a list like i did? i'm sure hockey would be happy to link to it in the first post.

John, do you own JH13s or are your impressions based on the universal/demo set? if it's based on the demo set than it's an even more impressive statement given that the customs reportedly sound that much better!

Pics have been compiled, here- I was surprised it wasn't stickied on the first post too, actually. I guess many people just missed it.

Ok i got to try the JH13 pros universals for a few tracks, initial impressions are its better than my um3x, but i can't see why is everybody gushing over it(the universals). Maybe the custom version is so much better, but as of now, i am not entirely convinced its as good as it seems.

P.S. This is solely my impression based on a brief session with the JH13 universals, please dun flame me for it pple. Perhaps my ears are not audiophile ears......

custom version will provide more soundstage, transparency, air, music instruments more space out. sound will be also "tweaked" abit.

Haha. Don't worry. Did you get a good seal? How did you get to try it out? These are all possible reasons. And whether you tried them with good rigs because they really scale to whatever your rig is...
