JH Audio JH-13 PRO impressions thread - Page 14

Okay I got an email back from Jerry Harvey about the color choices of the shell + cable color/length and here is what he wrote me (posting with permission from JH)

"The color you are talking about is magenta and we can match the transparency (ed. I asked about the Translucent Deep Red from the UE website)

We have clear and black cables in 48 inch and will have both clear and black in 64 inch length. They are on back order until 1st week of July.

We ship in a carbon fiber case. The only accessory is a wax tool"

sounds about right from what I was told they will also have as Jerry puts it "boring/ugly" skin colored cables as well

So what does the inside of the case look like? Anyone know?

One step ahead of you jamato I asked if Jerry had pictures a day or two ago he said he will have some up next week if he doesn't put them on the website I will upload them at the beginning of the thread for all to see

Yes I asked him a few days ago and he said the same thing I was wondering if anyone had an image.

Well my impressions must be there now.

So, these guys have big impactful bass. But how clear and precise did it sound? The bass on my UE10s is very good. But I do wish it were tighter and more articulate.

supposedly the bass and treble are amazing clear accurate and pronounced but at the same time not edgy but note that this is what I have heard from people who have listened to them. But if you do think about it while the ue-10 have a dual driver for both the mids and lows the jh-13 have a dual driver for the bass by itself. That may make a big difference.

mine are going next week but I am in no rush since I will be on vacation when the first first wave goes out so I am getting mine in the first week of July

These are the real deal, bass is tight and tunefull. I play bass and one of my main complaints is I texture of the bass notes. Many headphones allow you to follow the bass line but these are among the very few that allow you to hear the amp and bass used, for example a fender p-bass sounds really different from a j-bass and these really allowed for that difference to come through in the time I listened at CanJam.

I could really see these taking the place of most of my full sized headphones they are that good and for sound quality were right up there with the HD800s. The HD800s are very different but from a pure sonic enjoyment and transportability aspect I'd give these the nod. When I'm home I'm more likely to be listening to speakers 85-90% of the time but the JHs will give me reference quality on the go, in the office and when traveling all out of my pico!

thanks for your opinions jp! That would make another head-fier which thinks they are as good as hd800's which makes me so excited to hear

These are going to be easily affordable if the impressions hold true and all you need is a good source, a pico slim and jh13... sell everything else and I'm sure you'll be able to afford em

Ok, now you've got me drooling all over myself.

I'm a jazzer, and bass texture, especially upright bass, is critical to my enjoyment. That's why I really enjoyed my D2000.

First cut on these new baby's will definitely be something with Christian McBride.

My impressions went in today. All the raves from those who've heard the universals, plus my exchange with Jerry Harvey, pushed me over the edge. I've got UE11s, so we'll know...

I plan on giving the universal demo a listen next week. Dropping by Jerry's office since he's local to me. I'll let you know what I find out.
