Someone should send the JH13 FP to get it measured! (but I guess no one wants to part with them? haha...) I'd love to see the room phase curve of the JH13 FP...

I wouldn't be comfortable sending mine to GE.. but I'll talk to Rin/Inks/Purrin to see if any of them would like to measure my pair.

BTW Tom, I ordered the UERM today.. so that leaves you the odd man out to have to get the L05-QD..

haha... I'll try, but pocket book's running dry, now that I've committed to getting the Concero HP (great pairing with the UERM, BTW)

Hidden because this is a JHA thread... haha (Click to show)

What kind of sound are you looking for? (Explain with full sized gears)

I would also not discount the JH16.

Only IEMs I've had are the Shure 420 and Westone UM3X.

On the bus I'll just use my Zune because frankly I don't care too much with all that noise.  At home PWD2>GS-X mk2 :D

I would not want an HD800 in an IEM.  An LCD-3 or 009 in a tiny package would be nice.  Sensitive to treble spikes, I had to EQ out the HD800 shelf.

Reading the IF round up I suppose the Wesome ES5? would be another option but it's generally called an also ran in nearly every comparison.

If I understand the JH video and IF write up, the JH13 is still boosted in the bass, more so than either 420 or UM3X, so it should be fine unless the treble is also bumped.

The JH13 will have less bass boost than the um3x. Looking on the golden ears English site, I found JH16 measurements. They were very similar to the um3x in bass.

Yes, UM3X has MUCH more bass than JH13.  It's a much thicker heavier and warmer sound by comparison...closer to JH16.  I've owned all three.

I'm guessing my jh13 with whiplash v3 silver/copper sounds closer to the jh16 now... With that in mind

The UM3X bass is linear, it does however have a massive scoop out from 2KHz-8KHz which falls in the upper mids lower treble region.  Otherwise known as the transient and definition range.  Same diff I know but if you are trying to EQ it... leave the bass alone and boost that region.  I also drop the 10KHz spike some but that's 'optional' ;)

I wouldn't call a 7db bass boost linear but the upper mid scoop does help it to sound even bassier. I'd imagine the jh13 is closer to 4db's.

Where did you see the 7dB boost?  I'm going by the InnerFidelity measurement.

Found it.  Amazingly using GE search only the W4 came up... Google... UM3X /facepalm

JH16 FP doesn't have bass-always-on-mode sound anymore btw, for anyone referring to its measurements.

You need to use the Korean version of the site (they're not identical): http://ko.goldenears.net/board/89102

Oh nice, would love to hear it someday. Mine sounds thick now and really punchy especially when driven by the rwak100

Oh it's on the EN site just not if you search Westone.  Search UM3X and boom, there it is.
