By the way cymbals is something that the jh-13 does that slaughters any universal iem I have heard again due to all the upgrades of the jh-13's and the fact they are custom double barrel and all that.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I hate describing by how much but I am going to say it with this comment. If you can afford it and don't mind the extra little bulk I would say get one. But if it is not convenient to carry or you cannot afford one on top of it they still sound great out of a dap. A amp does help but I feel it did more for my ie8's then it did for my jh-13's. May be because the ie8's were dynamic I really couldn't tell you why with any certainty

Frickin Lasers!

^^ LOLZ yep frickin lasers worth ....ONE MeeeeiLLLION DOLLARS!!!

stereo lithography is way cool. point some lasers into a vat of resin, feed it a CAD file and hey presto, perfect reproduction after you tip the rest off. Where the lasers intersect the resin turns solid. not certain thats the process they are using, but they would as you say most definitely be scanning them with lasers; what they do with the resulting file to produce the IEMs i'll have to ask Jerry. its makes one feel better that when paying this sort of money that state of the art techniques and processes are being used.

you guys mentioned you'd get a pelican case with the jh13 right? which pelican case model would fit the iems and only the iems? just thought i might ask since it was mentioned

Hey Tyrion,

I read somewhere that the frequency response for the iphone is 20hz to 20khz, and the f.r. for the 13 is 10hz to 20khz. So, when you use these two together, is it safe to say that you're not hearing anything in the sub 20hz range?

Not sure. Can a human hear below 20 hz? I've read we can't.

The Westone case IS a Pelican case but bigger than the 1010 model mentioned above.

you can try it yourself with a computer generated sine wave at 10-20Hz. Usually this frequency is to feel the vibration of the air to emphasize the bass.

most test of output are from 20Hz to 22kHz. you can do it yourself by using RMAA as I dont have an iphone.

see these players' response curve. Audiophile MP3 players, by the numbers | MP3 Insider - CNET Reviews

The low frequency extension for headphones/iems are used to make sure that near 20Hz there is less or no sudden drop in amplitude.
