when i sent my 13s for the 2nd refit,i emailed Adam about 7 times in a week including emails to his email, customerservice and repairs and nothing got replied to.i then sent 3 emails again and emailed Jaime to take a look at them and finally Adam replied to me.

i broke the record for how many times i emailed jh audio,i estimate not less than 40-50 times  and 80% i never heard backk from them.

also do they work on friday and saturday?

Call or email Brittany. Adam and Jaime have been really flaky on email ime. Likely they are sitting on someone's desk ready to get shipped. Same thing happened to me and I got the impression that if I didn't call it could have been much longer.

Yeah the recommended list is suspect. I did one of their rec'd audiologists too and didn't get a good fit. I'm in the same boat as you. Can't really enjoy listening since I'm thinking about fit or readjusting. Though when I get my mind off the fit the sound is amazing and I have had some really nice times listening... riding my bike really helps with this, though perhaps a bit dangerous. I try to only listen when on a bike trail in that case.

^That is why I am getting new impressions, it is just too much money to write it off-I almost did but now I am glad i called again.  It is ridiculous to get a high end custom and rarely use it because of fit issues, that is one of the main reasons to get "customs".......to fit right.

I did the same thing at Jerry's suggestion - I wonder if we had the same "go to" person??? - and sent in the new impressions that arrived at JH Audio on July 8th.   I heard from Adam (via Zac) that the remake "...should be completed by tomorrow (July 22nd)".   So, hopefully they will be here this coming week.

For those who have had email problems with JH Audio staff, I'm sure that's unfortunate and frustrating.   I have had the complete opposite experience with Zac in particular being very quick to respond to emails.  I have never had to wait longer than a day/  Jerry has emailed me too on many occasions - not always right away - and even given me a ring to talk over the pending JH-3A system.   So, I have had nothing but good response from JH Audio.

That's the lady....charming and very efficient!

Nice, let us know how the fit is. Seriously considering getting a cheap ticket down there if it works out well.

Did it last night.  Actually the impressions seemed less.......intrusive.  After having the first which were very tight, esp on the bad side, my left ear, these felt better.  I was considering having them only redo the left but i think i may as well have them do both.  Yes she was very nice, i showed her head-fi on her computer so she was aware since she will do impressions at the shop when it opens over here.

I don't know if she got the headphone/earphone thing, she showed me her cheaper customs and seemed to think that the better ones were for recording artists.  Very pleasant though, glad i did it and hope it works.

wow,you were right! Brittany just emailed me after my email to her yesterday and she said that it will be shipped today.

apparently it was indeed sitting on someone's else desk.

i just hope that i dont need another 3rd refit because i cant tolerate it especially with this kind of service.

OK so you Midoo, you ask me quite a few specific questions. Although I have been an audiophile since the late 60ies, when I purchased a Mac 1500 Hybrid receiver, the then top of the line Koss earphones and 2 large Tonnoy Gold speakers and one of the top of the line record players and a Revox 15 inch real to real Tape recorder. and since then have added the Quad Electrostatic speakers and B& W DM-6 and the B&W 805, and now I own the HD800 and the Meier Audio Symphony 2 Head amp and the JH 13 and the MC 2200 Macintoh amplifier. I obviously love quality sound. However I do not listen in parts.

I did do the test you suggested with the JH13 downloaded the files and did hear both the bassier

and the other sound.

So now,  I listened today to an Opera and AB-ed the JH13 with HD800. I turned up the volume for the JH13 short of suffering volume until I could make is as lively as I could without hurting my ears. I listened to three songs or parts of the Opera. Since in order for me to hear the earlier bassier sound I had to push in the JH-13 deeper into my ear, it remained there for the Opera. The sound was excellent but restricted into a small space like a spot light in a theater. and I enjoyed it but I did not sense the excitement I used to feel when I used to listen with a Zune and a Sure 530 earphones, that always surprised me with the bursts of trumpets and the suddenness of music, the very quickness of them.

So then I listened to these three songs with the HD 800. I had to turn the volume up quite a bit to hear the music with the same loudness until it was not offending my ears.

Suddenly there was a wider space, the spotlight vanished and a stage opened up, the opera singers were singing to me and gave the illusion of being in the same space with me, there was an exciting crescendo which was absent with the JH13. There was a pleasure of relaxing and listening without any fatigue. There was more presence more immediacy and and the images of the performers were crisp and lifelike. The bass in the HD-800 was actually hinting of real bass making me think it was pressure on my entire body like good set of real speakers make you feel. Most reviewers of the HD 800 did not like the bass that much and I am very happy with this bass. The Meier head amp Sumphony 2 is also quite well matched for the HD 800.

So instead of the answers to your questions it is easier fr me to give you a less technical but more musical response to the ear phones JH13 and HD 800.

Now I need recommendations of a player to replace the AMp3 that will work best with the JH 13 since I used them for my music in transporting myself in my vehicle and in nature.  A player that will not roll off the bass nor the highs and not need an amp. How do you feel about a Cowon? I do not use my player for video nor pictures, but want as much storage as I can get on it, to randomize the songs. I want  fine quality, and prefer it to act like a hard drive rather than syncronizing. What is the new Zune like? does it compare to the high end of others you may suggest?

I bought the 801 from Hifiman, nothing that I have heard compares.  Still waiting for my new JH-13s to be redone, the second impressions are there so hopefully these will fit better and the sound quality will be the same.

I wonder if the Hifiman 801 will drive a HD 800 properly?

They need a good strong amp.

Also I wonder  what it sounds like with JH 13.
