JH Audio JH-13 PRO appreciation thread - Page 344

My JH13 came today. It sounds very nice out of the my 3rd Gen iTouch but I still prefer my K1000 due to a number of reasons. However, the bass of the JH13, though can be tightened up just a bit more, is some of the best I've heard.

I'm looking forward to pairing the JH13 with the Shadow when it comes out so I can make use of my Electrocompaniet ECD-1 and hopefully that will level the playing field with the K1000/Stingray/ECD-1 combo.

Lastly, the fit is perfect. Great job by Frances Miranda and the JHAudio Crew.

Thanks, can't wait for them to come in.

Other artwork choices would have been a Portal (the game) theme. Blue portal on one side, orange on the other.

I really like signage though. If designed properly it's generally easy to understand, simple and elegant. "iconic" if you will

The build was solid. Surface is smooth and spotless. I wasn't able to see the tiny bubbles on the JH13 until I took these macro-shots.

I'm satisfied with the artwork even though they aren't spectacular. The macro-shot showed all the flaws of the artwork but they look just fine even from a foot away.

Sorry Bubble haters, seems JH Audio hasn't perfected its clear shell manufacturing process.

I personally don't care much

Cheers

Are you an expert in the use of Velcro gloves? Ok, that was pretty Bhaaaad Thanks for the good writeup.

I like the color of those. re: the artwork, have you taken a pic of them from say a foot or two away? It does have the "I was hand painted" look in the macro shot (not a bad thing, these ARE customs)

Macro shots are taken inches away from the JH13.

And yes, these are hand painted as with all custom artwork from JHAudio.

Quite jealous! I am planning to go to the audiologist on next week when I get back from a trip. Jerry sent me 6 demos for the Houston meet that happened this weekend and I got to use them for a few days before sending them back this morning. I really liked the look of the clear ones because you could see everything inside very clearly, including the different colored tiny wires, but I am worried they might yellow a bit over time.

As for the sound, they sounded *really* good out of my ECD-1 + GS-1 setup. I was amazed by the clarity and the bass extension. I will probably just use them with an Ipod 160GB classic when I am I going portable - tired of portable amps - but will use the GS-1 at home.

You'll be switching cables quite often since you'll be using a balanced setup at home.

On good recordings, the JH13 is more than capable even though it's only driven by my iTouch.

Well, maybe when I decide that the JH13 are so good that I need to get a GS-X and a balanced cable. For now, I am still unbalanced.

By the way, your new avatar is really disgusting!

OK, so I'm sending my JH-13's for the third re-fit. I have decided to send a pair of sensaphonic custom sleeves from my old e500's. They fit well and am hoping they will help JH audio figure out what is going on with my fit. I hope the third time is truly a charm as I'm getting pretty sick of not being able to enjoy these monitors!

It was a random picture that I came across while browsing.

They likely won't yellow unless you never ever clean them.

Get a light smoke tint, it's still very clear with everything inside very visible, but looks nicer.

Clear Westone ES3X on left, Light Smoke JH13 on right.

That is what I mean about the "yellowing." The clear demos were really clear and spectacular looking (should have taken a pictures while I had them). But for fear of yellowing, it may be better to go with a light smoke.

I have read somewhere that a guy from either Westone or JHA said that acrylic shells don't turn yellow but vinyl and silicon do turn yellow. However, I think trans (or smoked) black looks much better than clear anyways
