My first reaction was the same as qusp's, that you may just need time to adapt to the sound signature, but now I'm thinking there's definitely gotta be something wrong. How many hours have you got on the JH13's? If you've got more than a few hours on them, you should probably have 'mentally burned-in' long enough to be able to appreciate their positive qualities by now.

Can you take some pictures of the IEM's inserted into your ears?

Also, don't apologize for seeking help on this issue. You've invested a lot of money in these. You have every right to seek guidance to trouble-shoot any potential issues that others might be able to help with.

It's the fact you've had er6i's that has me thinking this is something more than a simple case of having to adapt to the sound of the JH13pro. The Ety's are good enough that you will have gained an appreciation for decent sound quality, while being bass-lite enough that the JH's should offer a significant increase in bass quantity by comparison.

It's the fact you have experience with more than just 'bass head' phones that lends credence to the idea that something more may be going on here. If you're serious that it doesn't feel like the customs are going into your ear canal "at all", then my best guess at this point is that you've got a fit problem.

It's weird, though, that you mention that you get a seal and on particular songs you get strong bass. I think the suggestion about the JH11's is potentially a good one. Really need to see some pics...

Well after exactly 1 month i finally got my pair of JH|13s

The fit is well... very painful on both sides as you can see below due to the LONG tips but it seals well and sounds just as everyone here has described it

I haven't been able to post a picture yet of my JH13s because I don't have a camera, and my iphone can't pick up on the details, but Duggeh took this one, along with many, at the Kure Beach, NC meet this past weekend, so although it was meant to show the pico slim prototype, you can actually see the artwork, which I've been quite pleased with since I got them.



I should have a good picture soon that shows the artwork more, but I'm guessing that our guest for the week is doing some resting up at this point after his long flight back to Scotland, and since he has the pics in his camera, this will have to do for now.

BTW, the pico slim sounds fantastic with the JH13s. I spent about two hours with this combo and I'll be getting one. Another portable amp I quite liked with them at the meet (and also the HF2s), was the new Pete Millet portable (TTVJ) that's super slim, has a dac, and is the exact size of an ipod touch, which makes for a nice portable rig. I didn't really compare the amps to each other, though spent a lot of time with them separately at different times. I'd recommend either.

The new case looks great indeed. Very nice shots on this page. Good on JH Audio for supplying what has become standard fare for custom iems.

Another vote for the slim TTVJ...it's a beguiling voice and appears well made and drives a variety of phones! I like the Pico and would like to hear the cousin...Pico Slim!

Another attribute is the manner in which the JH13's make the marginal recording palatable. Some one wise once said that the "mark of any system is the quality of the handling of the worst recordings". I concur!

fwiw - mine hurt too, when I first got them (even called Jerry and said it felt like the tips were "sharp").

After a few days -don't know if my ears "adjusted" or what
- but pain went completely away
- fit & seal were great - sound was "like being Jacked into the Matrix".

Hope it works out the same way for you.

Hang in there - the sound is worth it!

I am fortunate enough to have a perfect seal and no pain from both of my sides but then again I sent in my UE10s to be scanned to JHA from an existing pair that already fit me perfectly.
I wish I cold help those who are not getting perfect fits other than to say that when you do get the right them right, the reward will justify the means.
