One of the nice things about these IEM's is that they seem relatively future-proof. I don't think there will be anything better coming out in the next couple of years, at least. I can't help but feel badly for some of the folks who jumped on the ES3X or UE11 in the months before these were released.
I personally don't care if something "better" comes out. I, for once, am perfectly, 100% satisfied, and those who know me, know that's not something I say...well...ever. I have zero interest in something better. I'll play around with trying out other full-size headphones for the fun of it, but other than building a rig for these, I'm very confident is saying I'm done.

Well i don't feel bad for people getting the ES3X, but i do for the UE11. Because if Jerry had designed the Ue11, but they decided to change it. So now Jerry's back with his UE11 as the JH11. If the JH13 is above the JH11....i think UE11 members are in big trouble. However, i don't feel bad for people getting the ES3X cause it's designed by different people, and made by a different company. Some like the ES3X more than the JH13, can't name them but yea.

how very unhead-fi of you ! if this kind of behavior persists amongst jh13 owners, and if it spreads, there will be very many disappointed manufacturers - that aren't JHA! how will the world of headphones thrive if we no longer have upgraditis?

Your feelings about the JH13 seem to reflect the general sentiment. I said it before, but in all the time I've been at head-fi, I've never seen a product release quite like this one. It really does seem to be a game changer.

Your comment about being 'done' is especially appealing to me. While I believe that there's a certain level of empirical tinkering that one has to experience in order to find their sound preferences, I've never been one to want to constantly shuffle different components for the sake of it.

Getting to that place of contentment necessitates some turnover of gear as part of the process, but personally, that isn't the part of the hobby I most enjoy.

I don't recall coming across anyone who owned both the JH13 and the ES3X that thought the ES3X was better, but I may have missed it.

I see where you're coming from, but I can only speak personally, and I know that I'd have wished I'd went for the JH13 if I had bought the ES3X shortly before it was released. Not to say that the ES3X isn't a great IEM because by all accounts it certainly is...

It just seems that the level of response to the JH13 is on a different scale than that of the ES3X. I'm not just saying that relative to the ES3X, I honestly don't think I've ever seen a head-fi product release that has generated the type of positive response we've observed from the JH13.

I managed to still get it posted before 12mn mountain time here in CO:

Hope you enjoy it - I would have liked another day to proof read it again, but I can always go back and edit it after it's posted.

Sweeeet. Thanks HPA, I'm going to crack open a cold one and settle in for a much-anticipated good read.

This is going to be like christmas morning for Sinocelt.

well i'm only trying to harden them, not at a hugely high temperature, about 400-500 degrees I think. not my kiln, I have zero experience in this area; the silver I have in that size at the moment is very soft annealed, so not sure how well it will hold up if used in this manner without some sort of process to harden it. not the whole cable, just the pins. next step is getting some machined, but these are just a couple of experiments for my own uses for the moment. I suppose because they are so short, the relative softness may not be an issue. all stuff I will find out when the JH13 get here. I dont have any IEMs with detachable cables until these and the only customs cables I have made to date have been for livewires, which as you know have an entirely different contact mechanism

there's actually i believe two members that have thought that, i can't recall their names. but if you look around in the massive topic, you'll most definitely find them.

Yep, and now we can scold him for not taking our word and ordering the JH13 in the first place. Or is having to wait that much longer for his JH13 punishment enough?

Waiting is certainly a punishment that I can personally attest to, but it also makes the arrival more rewarding. At least that's what my girlfriends always insisted...

The wait for the HF-2 has given me good practice in preparation for the even more lengthy wait I'll have to endure before getting the JH13pro. To think, all of this could have been avoided with a trip to CanJam.

Just finished reading HPA's three way review. Great review.

Somehow... I feel that the number of JH13 Pro orders will suddenly increase within a couple of days...

JH13 $1,100 + shipping
UE11 $1,150 + shipping
ES3X $800 (in my case the $800 included shipping)

Haven't read HPA's review yet, but I suspect the JH13 comes out at the top SQ-wise but in my case I'm not convinced the $300 (+ $50 - $75 shipping to Europe) price difference would've been worth it.

However, if it'd been the UE11's, then I'd certainly feel gutted.
