JH Audio JH-13 PRO appreciation thread - Page 225

My review is mostly finished. I'm waiting for my JH13's to come back for a minor refit, so I can do a thorough head to head comparison with specific music tracks of different Genres.

Until then, here's a few macro pics (also posted in that JH13 "pixs only" thread)

Agree 100%

I have a problem with these sorts of comments. See above[/QUOTE]

I didn't say everything sounded amazing. I said that music didn't have to be excellently recorded to sound good. Very different.

And true; these IEMs are good enough that music I wasn't too excited about even through my UE11s is fun again.

I don't think so because looking at mine nothing is there. Also that is not a typical place to imprint info on the driver.

Actually, it's the normal place they imprint the driver model and serial number:

Excellent photos, Edwood. Great bokeh. I think these are some of the best pics of the JH13's so far.

I was wondering...

Could the Jh-13 be the last phone I'll ever need?
Will they end up being that "Classic" that you never get tired of?
Or, are they just another FOTM or even FOTY?
Would we be happy growing old together?
How good are they really, in the long-term scheme of things to come?
Do they sound good enough that no matter what advancements come forth, you can always go home again to that comfy easy chair by the fireplace?
Somebody please let me know. If they're really that good, they're worth it.
Anybody?

Nah, in the long-term scheme of things they're not so special. In a couple of years we will have wireless customs with all of the electronics built into the molds, that will produce a 3D holographic sound image that will be so lifelike it will be almost frightening.

Um, yeah, and the crossbow was supposed to be the weapon to end all wars.

FOTM, like war, is human nature.

I asked her about sending me the digital files (not sure exactly how they're stored), and she seemed to think sending the molds was easier/better. It was actually Jerry over email that originally recommended I request UE to send me the impressions.

Hopefully I don't have fit issues. Impressions taken on-site at UE in Irvine for UE-10s, got great fit. They then created my UE-11s from that same mold (or digital file, however they did it). I could swear the UE-10s and UE-11s, while they both fit, fit a little differently. It does seem the UE-10s are a little fatter, filling in the outside part of my ear a bit more, and a little longer, extending just slightly further into my ear canal. I always chalked it up to design differences between UE-10 and UE-11, or my imagination. Maybe it's shrinkage though.

Shoot, now I'm a little concerned.
Did UE send JHA your actual molds/impressions? Or, they sent JHA the silicone casts of your original molds? Or, is it possible that they made new molds that are re-made from the silicone casts? You can check this out on YouTube:

YouTube - Behind the Scenes: Ultimate Ears Custom In-ear Monitors Lab

At around the 1:10 mark, the guy in the video mentions that's how they will always know what your original molds were like. Also, check out the 6:50 mark.

anyways so has anyone noticed how good the jh-13's are with cymbals? I have noticed over and over that they shine out on the jh-13's and really have that sparkle....

the one one the right looks perfect, they definitly want the entire interior AND exterior of the ear. I really cant see the outer ear portion of the one on the left well though...
And...I am suprised to see foam in the tips as JHAudios website specifically says no foam. (the way I remember it any way) due to a "sticking" issue.

LOL yeah, I gave the audiologist the instruction but she still used foam. I guessed she didn't have cotton.
