"how big would the difference be going from something like an imod to a high end dac?" I think a few have mentioned that they scale up very well with better equipment. The imod's dac is supposed one of the best 44Mhz/16bit performer. It doesn't upsample, though, which is what higher-end DACs will do for ya...to get closer to that vinyl natural quality.

The more and more I use the JH13, the more and more I could see it being THE only headphone I could own.

It's so incredible with movies too. The bass is simply the best I've heard of any headphones, even full sized cans. It's really the closest thing to having subwoofers in your head.

I've had mine for 5 weeks now and couldn't agree more Ed. I sold my Denons and my WA6 to fund these and have never regretted it for even one second.

I probably wear these about 10 to 12 hours a day and still can't get enough.

l certainly can't think of another phone where I've enjoyed the bass more. And while it is good straight out of my Zune, the bass is simply sublime out of my Pico. In fact, I'm listening to Avishai Cohen's Continuo right now and it is just sooooo beautiful.

If you haven't listened to Cohen Ed, check it out. I highly recommend Continuo or Gently Disturbed. Both hauntingly beautiful with amazingly recorded bass.

What amp are you guys using? I have a pretty nice sounding DAC but still haven't found a good amp for it. The Pico Slim is interesting but it's still unclear about the ETA.

I've only used it with my Pico so I can't really provide any frame of reference. But, I can say it sounds like nothing is lacking. Having said that, it could be as much the dac (or more) as the amp.

I certainly have no desire to look for anything else right nor, but you never know.

What a pity I already sold my Pico DAC/Amp.
I'm thinking of a nice desktop amp but afraid it would be overkill for low impedance phones.

In my opinion the 13's just need a good small amp.

A good portable with finesse does a great job and takes up just a tiny bit of a footprint. I have two different cables I am trying with the 13's and a few exceptional amps. It is sad but my Woo 6 hasn't been lit up for some time but then my headphones have been on only occasionally just so I could see how much and what kind of difference there is between them an the JH 13's.

It's quite weird for me to use a desktop DAC to feed a lil' portable amp. I'm thinking of a transparent amp like the Gil Lite would do great for the JH13s, not sure how they sound together though. The M3 I had is absolutely overkill for low impedance headphones, in my case was the SE530.

The Pico Slim, when it's out, will be great for gym along with a Nano.

Yeah I was thinking the G lite might be more transparent because it is discrete. Portable discrete amp anyone?

Could pico qualify?

Personally I like my amps neutral and fast, but I have yet to find a truly neutral amp come up to the speed and attack of the Predator... Anyone has any good suggestions? Anyone who had experienced great life-like attack and decay of instruments on the JH13 with their portable amps?

The Pred is by no way transparent. It's too dark sounding when comparing with the Pico. To me the Pico DAC is awesome but there is still room for improvement in the amp section. I'm thinking of the iQube v2 as an all-in-one option but it's pretty big and impossible to bring to the gym.

I agree that Predator isn't transparent...

Because of the bass hump and all. But iQube speed is far from ideal. So is pico. So yup...

I think I might be going for the Shadow if it's any faster.

Are the pico and iqube slow? I was under the impression that the iqube was the king of portables as far as transparency goes.
