Am I the only one here who finds hockeyb's statement about the headroom micro dac sounding not as good as the iphone alarming? I mean, if I were going for an uber expensive iem I would likely pick a $250+ dac, but I would be very disappointed to find out that a pricey dedicated bulky desktop dac doesn't sound quite as good as the internal dac of some portable phone.

HPA, you have the 2006 micro dac. What do you think? With an amp how does it compare to your iphone?

I use the HR Micro DAC via optical with my iRiver H140 and Sony NE-20 CDP and with the Micro Amp or my HeadFive that I keep in my bedside rig with it I think it is better than the iPhone 3G. But the iPhone 3G and 3GS are very good and my favorite iPods for headphone out - I think they sound great with IEM, and some normal cans like ESW10 as well. The iPhone 3G/GS can even sound nice and transparent with HD600, although one is not able to achieve loud volumes on the iPhone 3G with those.

The carbon fiber plate is gorgeous; the art, on the other hand, is smeared and looks ugly.

We've seen some very different photos of the JH13 in this thread: some look finely crafted; others... far from that.
