Sorry, I wasn't clear. I certainly think that high end phones
should be able to get sibilant if the recording is indeed severely sibilant. Otherwise, where's the neutrality we so fondly seek and speak of? My Sensa's sure can. contrary to reports that they're sibilant-proof. I'd expect the same from the ES3x and the JH13 Pro when/if I decide to get either.
I was just trying to remind the masses that there are certainly a large number of poorly mastered pop/rock/jazz recordings these days that try for sparkle, but miss with a harsh upper mid-range. Phones that are incapable of showing harsh-ness are not my cup of tea, given my FOH audio needs and tone shaping needs as a guitar player. But phones that somehow magically smooth things out (reports say that the old school Sensas, ES3x, and JH13 pros do this well) and make them tolerable, are certainly gems in my book.
Glad to hear we're all being so spoiled by such incredible advances in products.
