I could really see these taking the place of most of my full sized headphones they are that good and for sound quality were right up there with the HD800s. The HD800s are very different but from a pure sonic enjoyment and transportability aspect I'd give these the nod. When I'm home I'm more likely to be listening to speakers 85-90% of the time but the JHs will give me reference quality on the go, in the office and when traveling all out of my pico!
Yeah! Fellow bassist with same ideas! Though I use a preddy for it. =) But yeah I love it when the listening rig really lets you hear the tone of the bassist come out... It really makes a world of difference. =)

I'm a jazzer, and bass texture, especially upright bass, is critical to my enjoyment. That's why I really enjoyed my D2000.

First cut on these new baby's will definitely be something with Christian McBride.
Agreed... Avishai Cohen would be my first though. =)

I thought that all of the JH demos had nice quick tight and detailed bass with my iMod and P-51 mustang (piccolino LOD) - including the 10x3/11/13 (and their competitor UE10/11Pro). It reminded me of my ES3X, and better than my Livewires or SE530 customs. Although the UE 11 Pro demos might have had more bass quantity (not compared side by side), that could be due to the difference in fit and tips used with the universal demos. I actually had to return to listen to the JH 13Pro demos after the Sunday raffle to finish my listening, rather than blow them off. I could not leave CanJam without having taken that rare opportunity with the demos while it existed (but couldn't miss the raffle either).

With two listening sessions I was actually proud of myself for picking up the small lower treble boost on the JH demos, that Jerry said doesn't happen with the custom version but just with the current universal demos (I got the impression that he knows how to change that in future demo versions if needed). On the other hand, the bass quality did not alert me to any irregularities or problems to be concerned about. But, if I recall jerry also said there was approx 2 dB bump at about 60 or 115Hz in the demo pair (I forget which, but close to that), but that did not intrude into the demo at all for me.

Typically the finished full custom should always be better than the universal demo, so the demo just gives you an idea of how good it could possibly get (and false negatives don't mean much). It would have been fun to have tired the UE and JH demos side by side, but that certainly would not be fair to either company because then you are simply testing them as universal IEM and not as customs. It's a good thing I got two sets of impressions done at CanJam.

I still wonder now that they have proven you can fit 6 drivers in a custom if JH or any company for that matter will squeeze 4 into a universal.

Looking forward to your comparison, but I'm already sold on the 13s. I just need to save up for them. I'm not saving up for the HD800s...

As a Cohen, I would think so.

I sent my impressions in by priority mail in a medium USPS priority box but they haven't arrived and should have yesterday or the day before that. I didn't use tracking, as I have never had a problem with with priority but it is a thought and maybe should be considered. Just a heads up.

Lol jamato you are?

Cool!

Haha wonder what metal sounded like in iron dreams' ears. Would love to see whether the fast running lines become insanely clear.

For me if I can hear the nuances in the double bass, individual brushes of the drummer, and dynamics of the piano, I'd be hooked. Oh, and the key movements of the saxophone!

Ok, I think I've come up on with something I really like.

Now, I just need to decide on which version. What do you guys think?

I think the black one won't show up well! Plus, the design somewhat ambiguous. It'll be more ambiguous once you put it in your ear and it's lopsided!

Ugh! Another option I like. Such madness.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't mind the ambiguity, but I certainly don't want lopsided! have to make sure I figure that one out.
