These are the real deal, bass is tight and tunefull. I play bass and one of my main complaints is I texture of the bass notes. Many headphones allow you to follow the bass line but these are among the very few that allow you to hear the amp and bass used, for example a fender p-bass sounds really different from a j-bass and these really allowed for that difference to come through in the time I listened at CanJam.
I could really see these taking the place of most of my full sized headphones they are that good and for sound quality were right up there with the HD800s. The HD800s are very different but from a pure sonic enjoyment and transportability aspect I'd give these the nod. When I'm home I'm more likely to be listening to speakers 85-90% of the time but the JHs will give me reference quality on the go, in the office and when traveling all out of my pico! |

So, these guys have big impactful bass. But how clear and precise did it sound? The bass on my UE10s is very good. But I do wish it were tighter and more articulate.

With two listening sessions I was actually proud of myself for picking up the small lower treble boost on the JH demos, that Jerry said doesn't happen with the custom version but just with the current universal demos (I got the impression that he knows how to change that in future demo versions if needed). On the other hand, the bass quality did not alert me to any irregularities or problems to be concerned about. But, if I recall jerry also said there was approx 2 dB bump at about 60 or 115Hz in the demo pair (I forget which, but close to that), but that did not intrude into the demo at all for me.
Typically the finished full custom should always be better than the universal demo, so the demo just gives you an idea of how good it could possibly get (and false negatives don't mean much). It would have been fun to have tired the UE and JH demos side by side, but that certainly would not be fair to either company because then you are simply testing them as universal IEM and not as customs. It's a good thing I got two sets of impressions done at CanJam.

I still wonder now that they have proven you can fit 6 drivers in a custom if JH or any company for that matter will squeeze 4 into a universal.

Looking forward to your comparison, but I'm already sold on the 13s. I just need to save up for them. I'm not saving up for the HD800s...

As a Cohen, I would think so.

Lol jamato you are?
Cool!
Haha wonder what metal sounded like in iron dreams' ears. Would love to see whether the fast running lines become insanely clear.
For me if I can hear the nuances in the double bass, individual brushes of the drummer, and dynamics of the piano, I'd be hooked. Oh, and the key movements of the saxophone!

Ok, I think I've come up on with something I really like.
Now, I just need to decide on which version. What do you guys think?

I think the black one won't show up well! Plus, the design somewhat ambiguous. It'll be more ambiguous once you put it in your ear and it's lopsided!

Thanks for the feedback. I don't mind the ambiguity, but I certainly don't want lopsided! have to make sure I figure that one out.
