This is true, but JH's custom art capabilities aren't to UE's standards from what we've seen so far. I'm not bashing JH or anything, but if you're expecting too much (i.e. very specific colors and special effects), then you may be disappointed.

If you look at UE's art, there are very few graphics that have more than 1 color (and only the most recent). The ones with 2+ colors probably cost more. That's the main reason why I doubted that JH would do any complicated coloring (like shadows in the Möbius strip).

Roy if you look up a bit I narrowed it down that my dac (headroom micro dac) is just not doing it for me. Because iphone > amp is greater then micro dac to amp which should absolutely not be the case. Guess I will return it and try out the micro dac and astrodyne psu to see if that will shake things up.

Makes sense. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably get rid of the micro dac altogether, rather than rely on a PSU upgrade to do the trick.

No I want to upgrade to the ultra micro (the model over the micro ) and add the upgraded psu to it. I mean considering I payed 333 for a dedicated dac unit there is no reason a phone should be coming even close.

Ah, I get ya.

I think we're a couple of years away from a fully integrated solution that could make a portable rig comparable to the better home rigs.

We're all awaiting the HiFiMan, but really, all we really need at this point is something like a Clip with an optical or USB out. Someone should design something (small) that could serve as a transport to the already available DAC/amps. Even if ibasso or Justin were to consider further integrating their devices by including a basic DAP function.

The iRiver is an example of the market trying to fill a niche with a dated product that could be handled much better by something new. Something designed as a hard-drive transport as it's intended function.

There's the Amp3, so I think it's eventually going to happen...

Do the JH13s sound like the HD600s? The HD600s are by far my favorite dynamic headphones. Would be great if the JH13s sound as good as the HD600s.

BTW, anyone knows a good place to make ear impressions near Garden Grove? "OMG, OMG, I'm going to order them! It must be crazily good!"

LOL, if you read my reply to you, i'm pretty flexible, but I do not think filling in/tracing simple and iconic black and white artwork over a transparent colour can be considered 'complicated' if it is then i'll forget the whole thing and leave it off altogether.

and I dont mind paying more for 2 or 3 colours. 2 if I use the smoke colour of the shell as one of the shades.

The only problem i see with the JH Audio artwork is that they're just currently rushing through the artwork, and not wiping the excess paint off well enough and the edges get smeared. They also don't put a clear acrylic coating on to protect the artwork. Otherwise, i think that artwork wise they are on par with UE, as they do use the same technology for the artwork.

But if you were to get a super complicated artwork, i would say hold back till JH clears their orders up first,

The JH13 looks interesting but comments like it sounds on par with the HD800 or O2 makes me skeptical. Most of the comments here were like "OMG, it's crazily good!" right after the first listening. I personally don't believe those kinds of comments. One needs some time to fully appreciate a phones.

The JH13 is already on my next-to-buy list in the forthcoming 2 or 3 months, but not now.

It almost seems like yesterday when you wrote the first quote above. Oh, wait a minute, it WAS indeed yesterday.

Mine were delivered on Tuesday as scheduled, but I did not get them from my sister until Thursday. Man, that was torture!

First thing I noticed was that the faceplates were not opaque as I specified, and the symbol was not in the style I specified either. I requested for dark metallic navy blue in solid color and the symbol is to be the exact same style as Tommy Lee's on UE's site (very similar to Yukari's). As I had stated a few days ago, I was worried that Adam forgot to put the artwork on my JH13s because there was no charge for it on my receipt. So, I called Adam on Monday to ask him whether he remembers doing mine or not. He told me that he remember doing mine, and he added that he thinks I will like them. Well, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't mind the "mistakes" when I first saw them. I will get back to the color and artwork later...

My biggest concern was definitely about the fit. And thank god, the fit is perfect! I was worried about the fit because when I had my impressions done, the audiologist told me at the last moment that he thinks a wide open mouth impression is too much and he thinks a bite block would force my mouth too wide open. Thus, he wanted to take my impressions without using a bite block!!! I thought to myself "WTF!?", especially since I emailed him the instructions from JHA's Web site before hand and he said "no problem". Somehow, I went ahead with the process anyway (I was busy that day and I did not want to re-schedule with another audiologist). Luckily, I was able to keep my jaw still the whole time and that semi-open mouth impression (about one inch) turned out very well too.

What about the sound? Well, I did not get blown away by them with my first listen. Not underwhelmed, but just not blown away--at least not by the first song I listened to. However, I will get right down to the chase. My love/appreciation for these cans grew with each song that I listened through them. They are so smooth, accurate, fast, neutral, balanced, and no sibilance at all. I mean, I just can't stop listening to them! The highs, the mids, and the lows are so well done that I feel no single note is ever out of place. The details is truly remarkable as well--they make me want to go through my entire collection, so that I can discover all the details that I had been missing before. By the second day, I must already have been in awe more than a dozen times. It doesn't matter what I throw at them: rock, jazz, classical, etc., they all sound incredible. Using the JH13 to listen to live albums make me feel like I am actually at the concert! I am going to buy a lot of live albums for these babies, that's for sure.

Now, let's get back to the artwork and the color. You know what? Adam was right. I like them... a lot. With the faceplate's color, translucency, and reflective dust particles, they make me feel like I am looking into outer space! It has some sort of nebula-like look. And no, I don't get high. It makes the Aum symbol a perfect match with this look. In fact, I have a suggestion for you future buyers out there, you might want to consider this faceplate color/look combo with an artwork of your astrology sign. I think it would look totally awesome. If I hadn't gone with the Aum symbol, I think a Scorpio (my sign) would just look killer!

In the end, it turns out that everything turned out great for me. I couldn't be any happier with this purchase. As a matter of fact, I am going to call Adam and Jerry on Monday to let them know how happy I am with their product. I think they both deserve a pad on the back (for my pair anyway).

I am a proud owner of these babies:

They sound great out of the b22 but with the higher gain setting there is a slight background noise. To remedy this I picked the G Lite from spritzer. I probably will not get to check it out for a couple of weeks.
