with ue11pro, amp made huge difference

Anyway, that silly business aside, I am surprised your M3 has so much hiss, is the gain set rather high?
It's true, when I had the er-4p and shure e500, amping didn't make that much of a difference. But with the ue11pro, it's really another story.

When I use the pico amp/dac out of a macbookpro, the soundstage gets so much larger, and instrument separation increases by alot, and bass detail and impact also increases by a huge margin. Everything sounds more clean and detailed and treble more airy. It's here where the ue11 sounds almost like a full size can.

So, I'm assuming the jp13pro with six drivers will also benefit much with an amp.

Yeah. Gain is 11.

ive yet to hear an iem or headphone that does not dramatically benefit from an amp. the only iem that i did not find much much better is the er4s - it just became a bit fuller. all other ones i have used have better stage, bass, separation. there is simply no comparison. iems may be 'easier to drive' in some ways, but they generally put much more load on a portable's output system which cannot support the tiny drivers very well.

and every amp hisses - every one. if iron is having troubles, that is how his ear is tuned to music. i am similar. i hate hiss (sold my d2 and um2 because of it), and get easily put off by something feeling off.

however, i live with it now as i don't like to always take an amp around with me.

On low gain I hear no hiss with the P-51, T3 and the Shadow, which has no gain switch. On the P-51 and T3, the low gain provides way more than enough volume with IEM's so with these three, I no longer see hiss as a problem and hiss is something I do not like tagged along with my music.

I am finding the frequencies of the 13's to have integrated very well now. I also can tell more changes with different amps and taking a direct out from the iRiver. In my opinion an amp isn't necessary but improves the sound giving more width, texture and bass articulation, if the amp is a good one. The three mentioned above all do this.

I'm surprised at the underwhelmed vibe I'm getting. I had (or still have) some high hopes for these.

What do you mean? How many hours do you have on them?

Underwhelmed vibe? Who hasn't said good things about them? Is it bad that people aren't overhyping them like almost every new universal iem out there?

I don't think he owns them I think he is going at the fact there is not a ton of people sitting on the thread to hype them up to heaven.

Edit: or are you talking about what is being reported by people who have them?

Ah, after I saw your response I realized that. Well I would prefer more even headed responses. They aren't going to move the sun or bring peace, finally, to earth. :^)

I think a reasonable amount of time to digest think about the sound being produced or maybe people are just enjoying listening.

Yep I agree they are extremely good you just have to realize that only a handful of head-fiers even have them at the moment and they are sooooo good that a lot of us are waiting to write formal reviews. Seems like most of us are just waiting for headphoneaddict to do a comparison to show the attributes of the jh-13's.

Well I will write a full detailed review of the 10x3's but on first impressions .. and this is only 2 hours now and simply straight out of an 5.5g ipod.. this thing easily rivals my RS1 with an M3+S11 combo..

More detailed observations will be done as well as an A/B test but.. right now, I honestly don't care.. I'm toe tapping, i'm singing, i'm swaying in my chair

And this only with a 10x3 .. I can't wait to compare it to the JH-13

I'm glad to hear that you love them. But wait until you will hear the JH13.

I just don't know when I will be getting mine. I DO NOT call or bug them regularly about a delivery date - Brittany and I have only exchanged one email between the 19th and now (on the 30th about the art work after I saw the pair with the logo here). A while back I told Jerry that I would be happy to wait for the backlog to clear out. I have plenty of customs to enjoy, and many others are making these their first pair and are very eager. You guys are welcome to bug Brittany about hurrying mine along for the review, but I wont.
