Ok, the bass has kicked in and they have opened up much more. Playing some Bob Marley right now and the bass is solid and tight but doesn't get in the way of the music as it was earlier. Much more dimensional now.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

punchy, impact bass?

the ue11 has a lot of bass but for all it's superfluous bass, it does not have the punchy, impact bass. which kind of bass does jh13 have?

the jh-13 has a more natural extended bass that is in proper placing. It is punchy and impactful but it does not have a over accentuated amount.

I find they have a clean "correct" bass that you can feel down your back but only when it is in the music and meant to be that way. Ok, Long Black Veil, The Foggy Dew by the Chieftans, solid bass that resonates. Pure of voice, very nice.

I can hear the differences between amps more easily now. Also I have an easier time hearing the differences between opamps.

JH13 PRO will be waiting for me at hotel in San Diego.

I really don't want to pay the custom fee to Canada.!!

Yeah, sure is.

I'll be pretty busy while I'm there so won't have much time to log on and post pics and impressions, but I'll see what I can do

As far as jamato's thoughts on the JH13Pro, his thoughts on bass are not from childish expectations - I have read many of his reviews and found that the phones he has listened to have been a large selection of good phones that are from both bassy and non-bassy type. Indeed, his observations are important to this thread.

Smart man.

I wonder if I could get my pair of HF-2's shipped to my sister's fiance in Chicago? Have him send them via USPS to canada as something other than a $400+ headphone. Hmmm....

It's more of a "feeling" than hearing sound in a way. But it's quite noticeable difference, especially if you go from full sized open headphones to custom IEMs.

I think this is spot on Ed. My ES3X were my first customs as well and when I first tried them, it felt like I had plugged up my nose/mouth and blew really hard so my head got all stuffed up and things sounded a bit muffled. After awhile it went away and I ended up listening to the ES3X more than my O2s
