Calling for GS1000 folks. Post your impressions vs PS1000 here please

I would really appreciate if all of you who tried them both, side by side, what ever you love them or not, better do of course, to post your GS1000 vs PS1000 impressions please. So far its quite confusing, if not say more, but I let it be...
The thing is, when Zanth posted his impressions about PS1000 I was almost sure that thread like this will show up the next day after CanJam, but things are bit different at the moment. I do get strange feeling that HF2 just killed all attention / interest for PS1000, but really hopes not. Reading things like the PS1000 sounds like better version of GS1000, but to bassy and still schrill, makes me think like, what the hell?
I would like to know which set ups been used, for how long and what kind of music please, means some siriouse impressions instead of short, nothing giving, quite annoing and most important useless talk.

I do not care that much for HD800 or HF2 either. I simply need the clarification of already made statement, statement which says that PS1000 are THE BEST GRADO EVER MADE, so, come here and tell us more please!

THX

errr...sersiouly!!??? My personal opinion I would buy the HF-2 over the PS-1000 and the HD800>> PS1000. I heard the PS-1000 next to the GS1000 and the HD800 on the TTVJ307A just in case you want to know that.

So, would you buy the HF-2 over the HD800? Anyway please, continue.

Well, but lets talk about the OP question. I am also interested in knowing if PS1000 is also that great.

How can they be much better if they're more bassy and even a bit sibilant.

I like to have strong and extended bass and I think the GS-1000 does it just right (and there is much more bass in comparison to other grados). More than that could be too much for some kinds of music. I can't complain about bass details either, but I hope for that price the PS-1000 can do it somehow better.
I can't say much about the sibilance as lots of people think that the GS-1000s are already sibilant, while I think their treble is sweet. Well, that may also be because mine are headphiled or because I have only tubes and no single opamp or digital filter inside my audio chain. Maybe because my ears aren't that sensitive to such high frequencies and I've also never heard unmodded GS-1000s either. But if they didn't get the sibilance right, many are complaining about... then how can they be much better? At least to such an extent to justify their incredibly high price.

Well... they could have made the mids louder... but then again: you can push the pads on the GS-1000 further back, which in my opinion does it right. Raising the mids is also just more of a "bugfix" than a real product improvement.

Hmm... I think I'm being a bit sceptical about their price/performance ratio but I think that's justifiable. They should be placed more in the price region of the HD-800, so that the Grado fanboys (like me) still stay with them. But as the HD-800 seems to better than the PS-1000 - and that seems to be the consensus here - I see lots of Grado fans jumping over to the HD-800. And there is no problem with that. It's just that maybe it wasn't wise of Grado to release them at such a high price. Without the HD-800 in sight, the story would be different of course. On the other hand though it would be hard selling the GS-1000 then. Everybody would save up to the PS-1000 if they were just a tad more expensive.

Well... we'll see. I for myself have no interest in the PS-1000. And if I wouldn't be a happy GS-1000 owner I would definately jump on the HD-800 train. Let's see... maybe someday if I don't know what I could do with my money.

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this impression from just one post? Admittedly from a respected head-fier, but I wouldn't call it the sound of the PS1k just yet.

The HP-1000 is the greatest Grado ever made.... if you like transparency and accuracy. If you're into the Grado coloration like Zanth is, then the PS-1, PS-1000 might be your ticket. The GS-1000 is my favorite "colored" Grado.

As far as the meet, 1up liked the HP-1000 better than the HD800 and PS-1000, and it seemed like there was someone else who felt the same, but I like my GS-1000. I don't think more bass would make it better, especially at twice the price. My dealer should have the PS on demo before long, so I'll post back but I think at $2K Grado screwed up. Long live Joe Grado!

I'm curious too, but I think the metal housing will ruin the timbre much like the RS-1 compared to the PS-1. Even though the PS-1 may be more filled in and refined, I think the RS-1 is more enjoyeable to listen to.

So, I look forward to impressions, hopefully, from someone that appreciates the GS-1000. The ones that never liked the GS or never understood them, will obviously not be of much help.

Yeah, most of the impressions seem to be negative to less than thrilling on the PS 1000. The HF-2 and HD 800 stole the show. Very concerning for those of us that have ordered the PS1000.

As the PS1000 seem to be in the same sound family as GS1000, and the GS1000 is a divider of opinions to say the least, to me the most interesting opinions of the PS1000 is from people who like the GS1000, at least to some degree.

An opinion about the PS1000 from someone who hates the GS1000 says close to nothing to me.

I quite clear about the whole Grado line up, in and out of production. Dont see any logical end, at least at the moment. So, at this point of the time I want more information, thats all.
