Hi all,
Can anyone comment on the sound quality of a Zero Dac (default opamps, first version) versus a sound card in the sub $150 range?
Here's the thing, 2 channel speakers don't really do it for me and I love being immersed in a surround setup. Right now I have a set of D2000s running out of the Zero which is fed by a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro via optical. To get surround support for my 5.1 speakers (M-Audio LX4s) I will need to buy a sound card but I'm unsure of the performance difference between the card and the Zero. If the performance is similar, I figured I'd sell the Zero since the D2000s don't need much amping anyways. If there is a big dropoff in sound quality then I will live with surround speakers hooked up in stereo and forget about the card.
Thoughts?
