Did I see in one of the photos a Manley Stingray with a remote and headphone input?

If so, I am very interested in whether the remote volume works with the headphone input and how it sounds with headphones. I heard this integrated drive speakers and was very impressed. If it does headphones just as well and with volume control this is a must listen for me as an all in one amplifier. Impressions and more photos of this component would be fantastic. I am here sweating here in Texas and very envious of all of you attending the LA show.

As I type I am siting at work between patients and I too am sorry I could not go. One thing I've learned here at HeadFi is that, after all the dust has cleared and more people have had the chance to sample the 800's, many will wish they had spent more time at other tables. Not that the Senns aren't an amazing new inovation from (Dare I Say) the top headphone company in the world, but there will still be some that will be dissapointed by them. Just as I was with the GS1000's as no two sets of ears will ever hear the same.

I listened to them a lot - the Shure guys were very friendly, btw

Forget the 240s, they're kind of for low-end sources. The 440s were meh to me also, until Shure let me into a little secret - swap out the default pads for the pads from the 840s (sold as an accessory); this has a humungous effect on improving the sound in every possible way. They explained the memory-foam pads from the 840s are too expensive to put on the 440s, but they offer a nice upgrade path.

Now, the real deal, the 840s - I LOVED THEM. I compared a new pair and Jude's burned-in pair, they're both fantastic. Rich, detailed, great balance, speed, comfort, looks, I was eager to buy them there and then but they're not released til July? Then, I won them in the raffle! YEEHAW!

Bottom-line, they're miles better than all Beyer DT series....I kid you not.

Other impressions...HF2s? Not to my liking, I'm afraid. HP1000s, however, were sublime. I would take those over HD800s in a heartbeat. And if only the AD2000s had more bass /frustrated

My final impression/comment - the HD800s. Yeah no doubt very technically impressive sound. But didn't wow me in any way, tbh.

I came to the meet hoping to find a grail or its direction; I think I found it in the HP1000 and Sony Qualia - which they don't bloody make any more! The question I can't understand is why not!

I think this is one of the best things that we could find out about them. They get out of the way of the music it seems. This is a good thing, a very good thing.

Hmm, depends on the rest of your system, but I couldn't find much synergy with ANY of the other gear at the meet; defined as the end result being something greater than the sum of the parts...

It's a fine line between neutral and detailed, and kind of boring...

I'm no flat-earther, but like Densen used to say, life's too short for boring hi-fi!
