Soundtrack lovers (any one?)

post #1 of 57

In additional to the classical music that I enjoy for long time, I found movie soundtracks gradually become my new addition. They usually have great soundstage and recording, which brings great enjoyment with my head-fi gears. Anyhow, I would like to check if anyone also enjoys soundtracks and maybe share some great music (& movies) to listen.

For a start, I'll throw in my limited list (not in particular order):
* Vangelis, Antarctica
* Once upon a time in America
* The Big Blue
* The Secret Garden
* Titanic
* Dances with Wolves
* The Last of the Mohicans
* Rush (a little bit too blue too sad for me)

Two of the bigger threads that already exist on this topic:
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f9/best-soundtrack-99681/
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f9/bes...ck-ever-58681/

plus, a general search in the Music forum on the title "soundtrack" will turn up quite a few individual results also.

Happy reading!

Yeah...I agree. This is the Cliff Notes version compared to those other threads. But just to satisfy the OP's appetite, I'll throw in two of my (and millions of others') favorite classics: Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story.

Great! Phantom of the Opera IS one of my like. I do have it but did not put them with Movie soundtrack. If you like it, you might also like Jekyll & Hyde.

Enjoy!

I don't know a lot of soundtracks but my favourite so far is the "vanilla sky" soundtrack. the nice thing about soundtracks is not only that the music is much variable but also that they remind you of the movie. it's great in case you loved the movie.

This reminds me of Batman soundtracks which are also excellent.

I'll go with Blade Runner-Vangelis, Ben Hur, Conan the Barbarian and the Egyptian; Herrmann's Vertigo as well. Two good eighties ones are the soundtracks to Some Kind of Wonderful and Bright Lights Big City
