That list has more than a couple "Pro" DAC's on it (Grace, Antelope, Benchmark, Behringer).  The Mytek is fairly new, and Stereophile takes it's sweet time reviewing products.

Unless you need the validation of having a product you own on someone else's list, it doesn't really matter.

RE: S/N's, them being in the 20K range does not necessarily mean they've produced 20K headphones.  What companies will often do is start each batch in a totally different range.  February's batch will all be 10K's, April's will be 12K, etc - this helps pinpoint issues if one batch was improperly made.

Then again, I would not be surprised if they've sold 20,000 headphones over the last 3+ years it's been on the market.

Grr...my 2nd HD 800 from Jan has been sitting in customs for nearly 3 weeks now, with no updates. mad.gif Is this normal? My first one took 10 days TOTAL to arrive after ordering.

On a more pathetic note-my Eximus/Zana duo is sorely lacking any headphones at this time. *smashes wall*

By any chance, are you able to enjoy the first one whilst you wait? ;)

Regardless it seems out of the newer flagships models the HD800 probably have sold the most by a good amount. I would be surprised if they have not outsold the T1, LCD2, etc. I don't know how many they have sold but I'm pretty confident in saying they have sold a lot of them. Usually that isn't the case for a totl

Sold it a while back, learned my lesson, ordered a new one. A 2nd one, in fact. tongue_smile.gif

hey rawrster, did you manage to replace the ear pads?

I haven't gotten around to it. I recall seeing a youtube video that was about replacing the HD800 pads but haven't done it yet. I don't know when but probably won't be anytime soon. I got the HD800 pads to replace the current ones but been too lazy lately.

Final thoughts on the Mjolnir and BHA-1 as well as some comments on the Gungnir vs Bifrost: http://www.head-fi.org/t/631313/schiit-mjolnir-vs-bryston-bha-1-and-schiit-gungnir-vs-bifrost

Very nice write up.

I hope you still have the combo next spring in Austin so I can hear it.

Hopefully by March the boys at Schiit will have a new pair to try out, but if not I'll have them with me.

I'm now an official member of the HD800 owners club! I bought sphinxvc's S/N 07xxx pair, and they officially arrived. The curse of "HE-6 vs. HD800" has officially been passed on to me wink.gif

Once very interested in them I'd decided against them in favor of HE-6 a few months ago....but I just couldn't resist this time! cool.gif

I love my HE-6's, but as a very long time HD650 fan, it's nice to be part of another Sennheiser culture as well!

I'd like to hear the HE-6 but the monumental power requirements are a deterrent. I've read some positive impressions from those who've tethered it at the end of the Schiit stack, but I'm completely satisfied with the HD800 and the synergy it has with the Gungnir/Mjolnir. The curiosity isn't enough to justify another investment, though I'm itching to own the LCD-2 again. Stupid head-fi addiction.

I thought the same thing but I've heard the HE6 at a mini meet and it sounded very good. The Mjolnir also is pretty good with the HE6. I'm going to have to sell one of my headphones down the line. I'm leaning towards the AD2k but don't want to sell the headphone but if I keep the Mjolnir I would want to have the AD2k balanced.

What's this curse?  I may already have it and don't know it.

No doubt you've had the mono block crusaders shoot you down and argue you're not hearing the HE-6 at full potential. How does it compare to the HD800 from the Mjolnir?
