The person in the review is saying they sound very simliar to the more expensive ue-10 except dont have that much punch, but its a small price to pay when you think that your saving $500!!!
Thanks, Mosh! So is the consensus that the ue4 pros are pretty much the top of the food chain at this price point?

No. There's been only one review of them, and one that didn't compare it to any of its competitors. There simply cannot be any consensus on which is better, between UE4, JH5, Fidelity/LW Triples, C3, and whatever else I may forget.

Yeah, I figured as much. I imagine Forrest Gump would say something like: Subjective is as subjective was.

I have the origianal livewires dual drivers, which are essentially the same as the fidelity as far as i can tell.

I hated the gold connectors, so i painted them silver (see pic linked in my sig). At first i wasn't sure if the sound was going to be light years ahead of the super fi 3s i had before, but now i wouldn't be without them. As long as you get a good fit they're so comfortable that you could wear them all day, and with a tweak of EQ (i like a bright presentation) they're fairly close to the Grado sound i love. Obviously not as airy and open, but they are IEM's after all. The connectors actually help when putting them in, as they swivel the cable out of the way, and you can then loop them over the ear (or wear them straight down if that's your preference).

One downside to ordering customs from overseas, if you need to have them adjusted/refit you have to send them back and wait at least 2 weeks, or try and do it yourself (which is possible if it's only a minor refit, but you have to be careful).

I basically have the same question as the OP - best IEMs under $300 US. Coincidentally I also live in the UK.

Of all I've read so far the Fidelity Duals seem to come up trumps? Has OP mad a purchase?

custom fitted in ear monitors

Hello, if you are still looking check out the drmearz drm-1. They cost $190 & I believe they are the lowest priced professional custom fitted in ear monitors with detachable cords on the market. I hope its ok to give the web address. I found them @ drmearz.com. Hope this helps.......

I know this is an old thread but, will cheap custom IEM like the Fidelity customs and Sleeks sound better than Universal IEM like the Shure SE530 or Westone 3? Even the dual drivers customs vs the triple driver universals?

My Livewires T1 certainly beat everything except the W3 when using UM56 custom tips, and even then they come close. The SE539 and Triple.fi 10 Pro are not as good, but not bad.

I contacted andre at alien ears and he says he is working on some 1 low/1mid and 1 high drivers for a new model.  So I might look at that and wondered are there any options I could look at,

I need mine for the transmitter PT1 shure for a shure psm200 wireless in ear monitoring system as the e2c that came with are crap.

So i too have a $400 budget and am still looking for a suitable IEM custom with all the trimmings colour, cable and face plates. Are there any other singers on here that use wireless IEMS and what would recommed under $400 dollars that I would get the best vocal response out of.

Thoughts.

Not a joke if you are comparing to the Westone 3 with UM56 custom tips.  It would then be like comparing a Denon D7000 with a Grado RS-1, and see how many people agree on which is better.

Thanks for this.
