It looks pretty hot to me! On the other hand, I didn't like the looks of the Symphony because of the choices in the panel. I guess a DAC is allowed to have some technicalities shown.

I'm buying one as soon as Mr Meier release it. I cannot wait to listen to the results of the new crossfeed implementation through my buffer valves amplifier and my Graham Slee Solo (I'm using 1940's Ken Rad 6sn7GT at the moment and all I can ask for is deeper soundstage because the music cannot be more natural. That I will hopefully get with the STAGEDAC).

Well, there's the input selector switch; then the DAC settings switches which I recognise from the Symphony; Crossfeed settings and mode; and a 'tonal balance' switch - what does that do??

There is an acoustic phenomenon with the crossfeed circuit that can generate the perception that there is reduced bass output. In some, if not all of Jan's amps, he has addressed this with some built-in compensation. I surmise that the tonal balance switch enables the listener control over this compensation.

Oooh, good thinking. Yes, I remember reading in Jan's Headwize articles that the perceived loss of bass respone is primarily psycho-acoustic, so presumably the new xfeed has the same phenomenon, and an adjustable compensation would make a lot of sense.

Der StageDAC und Reiner, Elektronik - HIFI-FORUM seems that Richter Di has had his hands on this DAC and as Google translator suggests, his impressions are rather positive. Anyone with good command of German could you please translate it for peons with little knowledge of the language?

Okay, nevertheless. I've had the StageDAC here for a week. It is unbelievable what this thing delivers in resolution and sound stage. Fortunately I'm already well supplied with the AudioNET, but the sound stage of the StageDAC without crossfeed was even better.

Jan's new crossfeed is really something special and can be tuned very precisely - a real treat for true crossfeed fans. The choice of three preference settings is clearly intended for those who can hear such subtle differences and have the peace and quiet to test it out. For everyone else, simply a middle/middle setting offers a somewhat more precise crossfeed.

Reiner didn't write much about his week with the evaluation prototype except that it's a great DAC regarding resolution and three-dimensionality equipped with an exceptional adjustable crossfeed as a bonus feature.
In case you do have specific questions asking himself would make more sense than me or another german interpreting his few words.
Reiner is head-fi member and his lingual skills are more than appropriate.His moniker is "RichterDi" here as well.

Wonderful, WM8741 in dual-mono is only appeared in those thousands dollars Hi-Fi, and we can have it in several hundreds. Very attractive indeed.
