I use the M2Tech HiFace for my speaker setup and there is a very audible difference from my MacMini playing lossless through the HiFace. There is better, tighter bass and more details when feeding my DAC with coax from the HiFace contrary to optical (and much better than the analog out). Everything becomes clearer and closer. When using my iBasso D10 Dac and headphones the difference is less. I am sure it has something to do with the DAC. I have no doubt that the Stagedac will be better when it is fed through the Hiface and the HD800 will for sure be able to let you hear those small differences. When you are at it you might as well take the HiFace too. I do not think you will regret it!

Since this is my first serious system I won't be able to give much more information than my subjective feeling when comparing with or without the HiFACE.

But I hope that there is a detectable difference, since I'm spending a bit of extra monies on the USB converter

Make sure to report back as I am also very curious. If you can't hear any difference it will also mean the Stagedac is pretty good at dealing with jitter. It is a shame you won't be able to compare it to SPDIF. Have you checked your motherboard connector or are you using a laptop?

Well I acutally have a SPDIF on my motherboard as well!

But I'm assuming the sound will be better via USB -> HiFACE, and I'll use the system with other computers that lack SPDIF out.

Has any StageDac owners compared to DacMagic, V-Dac or maybe better the Stello DA100...or anything else ???

No, I work at university - scientist. I am from Slovakia when this company is from Czech republic. I am totaly independent, no agreeement, nio money, no device ... etc. It is normal that you want compare devices which are here in Central Europe well known with producds from other countries, from EU or USA. It is normal. I think the hysteria around is more absurde as rational. When Macedonian Hero speaks about T1 he has nothing with Beyerdynamic company, he is not sellsman etc.

But I don't talk about how much I like them in 100% of my posts. That's the issue.

Yes, I like my personal inventory and obtained inventory for non-profit organization for projects for blinds. I think, you are well known here with great flair for audio devices, for music reproduction. I think, the greatest idea is compare them, face-to-face. As I know, producer is very patient and device for reviewing is possible. I do not know conditions because I am independent person. When you contact him you obtain detailed information. When a lot of people speaks here about, the best idea is to create reviews and comparing with producers from America or with Meir Audio StageDAC. This is the aim of head-fi, sharing with experience, suggestions, comparing etc. I think it is very useful information for everybody.
