SACD Titles - Which ones do you have?

Even though I don't have my SACD player yet, I just picked up the following 3 SACD titles from a local Tower Records:

Aerosmith "Just Push Play" - I don't have this on regular CD.
Boston "Boston" - A classic that I haven't listened to in a while.
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" - A classic I have listened to recently.

So what titles do you guys recommend?

If you like Classical, the Isaac Stern take on Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" is stunning.

Monk's "Straight, No Chaser" is also stellar.

  • Appalachian Journey by Yo Yo Ma, et al
  • Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 3, Solo Piano Works Arcadi Volodos; Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (James Levine)
  • Kind of Blue by Miles Davis
  • Time Out by Dave Brubeck
  • Straight, No Chaser by Thelonius Monk

  • BluesQuest Various Artists (Audioquest)
  • Dances With Wolves John Barry
  • The Door by Keb' Mo'

  • New York Philharmonic; Boulez Conducts Ravel Pierre Boulez
  • Chopin: Sonata No. 2 in B Flat Minor, Op. 35 Rachmaninoff: Etude-Tableau Op. 33, No. 2 & Op. 39 Vladimir Horowitz

I may have missed one or two, but it's all I could think of off the top of my head. I really enjoy all of them, and so recommend them all.

There are many more that are on my to-buy list, but I just have to get around to buying them locally / ordering them online.

How's that Wagner SACD, jude?

That's the only SACD that I would even want to buy so far from the titles they have released.

I already have my first SACD, and I don't even have a player yet. :-(

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells

To show my respect, I may have to call you Master MacDEF.

Having just purchased a 333es (thanks MacDEF), I picked up some SACDs where I could until I discovered that amusicdirect.com seems to have all that have been released.
My favorite (by far, so far) is The Raven by Rebecca Pidgeon. I had no idea what kind of style this was when I bought it. But it sounds fabulous. (It is a hybrid disc so you can compare the CD and SACD versions ).
Blonde on Blonde by Bobby D is also worth a listen if you like that sort of thing.
crk
ps I also picked up a copy of Rach 3 (Volodos) from Amazon Zshops. But it turned out to be the regular CD version (there seems to be a bug in the listing algorithm for this title). I was going to send it back but it sounds great. The trouble is now, I guess, I'll have to get the SACD version too..............

Ah, I'm listening to The Raven right now...

Other than that, off the top of my head, I have Copland conducts Copland, Pictures at an Exhibition, 1812 Overture, Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas, Straight No Chaser, Sacred Feast, Wynton Marsalis Classical w/ LSO... I think I have a couple more, but I'd have to look and I'm lazy

Wow Jude, did you buy all the available titles? I picked up a couple more today.

Monk - Straight, No Chaser
Deep Forest III - Comparsa

Man, I wish Sony would come out with an SACD portable player so I could listen to these on the train on the way home.

The problem is that after owning the 9000ES for a year, I have 14 SACD's. I buy more than that number of DVDs/CDs every 2/3 weeks.

My favorites would have to be:

Rebecca Pidgeon, The Raven
John McLoughlin, Al DiMeola, Paco de Lucia: Friday Night in San Francisco
Bruce Katz Band: Three Feet off the Ground (can't give a truly objective opinion on this one- I've known Bruce and his wife since our college days)
